The Sung clan self-governance model in Thai village was launched in 2021, with 15 households and 75 members. With the motto "family as the foundation, clan as the center, community as the strength," immediately after its establishment, the Sung clan developed regulations and customs that are consistent with local traditions and comply with the law. These regulations focus on practical issues such as: no child marriage, no violations of the law, no involvement in social vices; actively developing the economy , maintaining environmental hygiene, and preserving traditional culture... all of which are unanimously implemented by the clan members.

Mr. Sung A Ly, head of the Sung clan, shared: "Identifying the clan head as someone who propagates and mobilizes, as well as mediates conflicts arising within the clan, I always take the lead and act impartially in all matters. Thanks to this, many issues have been resolved within the clan, preventing them from escalating into 'hot spots,' contributing to maintaining security and order in the village."

In addition, the Sung clan proactively established a self-governing group, assigning specific tasks to each member. Young people in the clan are tasked with spearheading economic development and applying science and technology to production; women are responsible for preserving cultural traditions and building happy families; and the elderly are involved in disseminating and educating about traditions.

Mr. Sung A So, a member of the clan, said: “By implementing the clan's customs and regulations, child marriage, consanguineous marriage, land disputes, legal violations, and especially drug abuse, have significantly decreased. Households focus on supporting each other to develop their family economies, so there are no longer any poor households in the clan, 100% of children attend school, and 100% of households have achieved the status of 'Culturally Advanced Family'.”

The Sung clan's self-governance model in Na De Thang village was launched in 2023, comprising 18 households and 84 people. Besides promoting household economic development, the clan actively builds a cultural life. Outdated customs are gradually being eliminated, replaced by a civilized and progressive way of life. The spirit of solidarity and mutual support is fostered through helping each other in production and assisting disadvantaged families.

Mr. Sung A Giang, head of the Sung clan in Na De Thang village, said: "We always teach our children and grandchildren to actively engage in production and labor, and to abide by the Party's guidelines and policies, as well as the State's laws and regulations. While in the past many young people were easily drawn into social vices, now, through family and clan education, they have become more conscious in their studies, work, and self-improvement. Many actively participate in community activities, becoming a core force in building the village."

Thanks to its practical effectiveness, the self-governing clan model of the Sung clan has become a shining example spreading throughout the villages in the commune. Currently, the entire commune has 17 self-governing clans established and operating effectively. This contributes to ensuring security and order, creating a stable environment for socio-economic development. Ms. Khang Thi Mao, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Khao Mang commune, said: “The ‘self-governing clan’ model is a suitable solution for the characteristics of the highlands, an innovative and effective approach in building ‘Happy Villages’ in Khao Mang.”

"Thanks to positive changes within each family and clan, the face of Khao Mang's rural area is gradually transforming, people's lives are improving, the poverty rate in the commune has decreased to 7.62%, average income has reached 32 million VND/person/year, and community bonds are becoming stronger."

In the coming time, the Fatherland Front Committee of Khao Mang commune will continue to expand the model of self-governing clans, so that each clan in the commune becomes a self-governing clan, contributing to preventing and repelling outdated customs and evils, and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. When each family is prosperous and each clan is united and strong, each village will be nurtured to become a "Happy Village".
