According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dao Si Tuan, the Pickleball movement in the province has developed very positively in recent times. From being a relatively new sport, Pickleball has gradually become popular and widely accepted by the people. This is the basis for the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to aim to organize the first An Giang Provincial Pickleball Championship in 2025.
“The An Giang Provincial Pickleball Championship took place with the following competitions: Men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles. Although it was the first time the tournament was held, it attracted more than 230 athletes from 25 units and clubs in the province. This shows the strong development of Pickleball, with the enthusiastic response of people across the province" - Mr. Dao Si Tuan emphasized. The tournament is also an opportunity for athletes to exchange and learn experiences, contributing to creating a healthy and useful playground, improving cultural and spiritual life and strengthening solidarity between agencies and units in the province. Thereby, promoting the movement of physical training and sports in general and Pickleball in particular in An Giang.
The matches were very exciting.
As the host of the tournament, Chau Doc City People's Committee has created all favorable conditions for the athletes to compete. Vice Chairman of Chau Doc City People's Committee Tran Quoc Tuan informed: "Chau Doc is the host of the first An Giang Provincial Pickleball Championship in 2025, this is an honor for the locality. In recent times, the Pickleball movement in Chau Doc City has developed positively, creating diversity in the physical and spiritual life of the people. This tournament will be a highlight, creating motivation for the locality to expand and improve the quality of the Pickleball movement in the coming time".
Directly present at the tournament, you will feel the attractive competitive atmosphere of the athletes. In the spirit of honesty and nobility of sports, the athletes have devoted themselves to exciting competitions. The powerful smashes, ball receptions, "net" or serves of the athletes, the applause and cheers of the audience have added to the attractiveness of the tournament.
According to the representatives of the units, although the movement has developed throughout the province, Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City are the two units that have developed early, as well as built strengths in Pickleball. In addition, some other localities in the province have also built quite good movements. However, the common spirit of the units is to see the tournament as an opportunity to learn, improve the level of athletes, creating a premise to improve the quality of the movement in the future.
Athlete Le Van Hao (An Phu district) shared: “I came to the tournament mainly with the spirit of exchange and learning. Because I have only been involved in Pickleball for about a year, my skills are still limited. The tournament is an opportunity for me and my teammates in An Phu to improve our level and competition skills. In fact, the Pickleball movement really needs tournaments like this to create a competitive atmosphere, helping athletes have more motivation to stick together more.”
After the success of the tournament, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to coordinate and support localities and units to improve the quality of the Pickleball movement, in order to create more attractive playgrounds for all classes of people across the province.
