Hue City Women's Union repairs houses for members in difficulty

The family of Ms. Do Thi Man, residential group (TDP) 9, Thuy Chau ward, Huong Thuy town, is one of the most disadvantaged groups in the ward. The couple's health is not good, so their jobs are unstable, and the family's economy is always difficult. The house they are living in was built a long time ago, but is now dilapidated and dilapidated, but the family does not have the means to repair it.

In her situation, the Women's Union of Huong Thuy town supported 20 million VND; the "Fund for the Poor" Mobilization Committee of Huong Thuy town supported 20 million VND; the "Fund for the Poor" of Thuy Chau ward supported 5 million VND... to help her have funds to repair her house. In addition to the supported amount, women's union members and people in the residential area also joined hands to contribute working days, support construction materials and necessities to help Ms. Man's family during the house repair process.

Ms. Pham Thi Thuy, Group 3, Thuy Xuan Ward, Thuan Hoa District is also a poor household, raising a child of school age alone. Although she has always received attention and support from the local Women's Union, taking care of her child's education is too much work, and repairing her dilapidated house is beyond her ability. The ward Women's Union mobilized local organizations and connected with benefactors to raise 45 million VND to help her repair her house to be more solid.

“I am very grateful for the attention of the local government, philanthropists, especially the Women's Union of the ward. Having a clean, solid house is the motivation for my mother and I to continue to strive in life,” said Ms. Thuy.

In recent times, Women's Unions at all levels from the city to the localities have "accelerated" propaganda, advocacy, connection, and mobilization of resources to have funds to repair and build shelters for poor female members.

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Loan, member of the City Party Committee, President of the Hue City Women's Union, said: The unions at all levels have proactively reviewed poor women's households and women with difficult housing situations to plan assistance. To proactively finance the construction and repair of houses for members, the Women's Union at all levels have established funds: "For poor women", "Shelter of love" and monthly savings models, launching models such as: "Raising piggy banks", "Green houses"...

The "Shelters of Love" are repaired and rebuilt with the sharing and cooperation of members and the community, not only providing material support for poor women to have a "home", but also a great motivation for members to constantly strive and improve their lives.

Recently, the City Women's Union also held a groundbreaking ceremony to build 1 Charity House and repair 2 temporary houses for members with difficult housing circumstances with a total budget of 110 million VND. In addition, the union at all levels has repaired and started construction of dozens of charity houses for poor members.
