New impetus from new launching pads

Following the merger, Da Nang was entrusted by the Central Government with the important political task of building a city that plays a leading role and serves as the engine of the Central and Central Highlands regions. Faced with this great mission, the leaders of Da Nang city have always pondered and considered development directions and breakthrough solutions to maximize the potential and advantages in order to quickly and sustainably develop the city, worthy of the role and expectations of the Central Government and the people.

With a long-term strategic vision, the city prioritizes the coordination of planning to restructure urban space in order to quickly form new growth poles, creating momentum for a dynamic urban center of regional significance. At the same time, it identifies key strategic projects with significant ripple effects to create momentum for development and a breakthrough in the next phase.

Defining the pioneering role

The Da Nang Free Trade Zone, serving as the foundation for the formation of Vietnam's first free trade zone, is a project of special importance and strategic significance. It creates momentum and a ripple effect on the socio -economic development of the city, making Da Nang an important trade gateway for the Central region and the entire country. It is gradually affirming its position as a crucial link in the global supply chain with functions such as manufacturing, logistics, trade and services, digital technology, information technology, and innovation.

In addition, Lien Chieu Port has been constructed with 8 container berths, capable of receiving ships up to 18,000 TEU. This modern container port, meeting green port standards, opens up the ambition to become an international cargo transshipment center for Central and Western Vietnam, promoting the development of the marine economy and the global logistics chain.

Simultaneously, the cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport is also under construction, with an estimated capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo per year by 2030. This project is part of a series of investments aimed at improving the infrastructure of Da Nang International Airport, modernizing the aviation logistics sector, and contributing to promoting import and export activities and economic connectivity with domestic and international markets.

In addition, the city is increasing its rail and road transport capacity by focusing on land clearance and investment preparation to soon implement the construction of the North-South high-speed railway section passing through Da Nang, the urban railway project from Chu Lai airport to Hoi An, and the project to renovate and upgrade the intersection of National Highway 14B with the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to serve as a bridge for trade, agricultural product consumption, and to promote the development of the East-West Economic Corridor, opening a gateway for long-term cooperation and development with the provinces of Sekong and Champasak in neighboring Laos and the entire Central Highlands region.

Along with investing in and building up the core infrastructure to drive economic development, the city has also commenced the Investment Project for the Construction and Operation of Infrastructure in Subdivision B of the Nam Thang Binh Industrial Park. This project sends a message from the city about its commitment to attracting investment in high value-added, environmentally friendly industries, aiming towards an eco-industrial park model, applying advanced technology to production and processing operations, and strongly contributing to the Net Zero goal by 2050.

The project opens up opportunities to attract high-quality human resources in fields such as semiconductors, information technology, telecommunications, electronics; and the deep processing of silica products, thereby creating jobs and sustainable livelihoods for the people.

Creating mechanisms for breakthroughs.

The National Assembly's adoption of Resolution No. 259/2025/QH15 dated December 11, 2025, amending and supplementing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on piloting some specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city, further demonstrates the dynamism, creativity, and responsibility of the city government in its desire to expand within a broader institutional space, coupled with higher responsibilities in promoting economic development and enhancing competitiveness. A series of new mechanisms have been added, such as: mechanisms and policies for urban development models oriented towards public transport development (TOD); the authority of the City People's Committee in land acquisition for socio-economic development projects for national and public benefit, and priority sectors; and preferential investment, land, and investment activity policies for the Free Trade Zone. These mechanisms represent positive changes, giving the city's economy the opportunity to break through, remove bottlenecks, and attract and promote investment in many projects of regional and global significance.

In 2026, the city chose the theme "Year of promoting the effectiveness of the two-tiered local government model, special mechanisms and policies, boosting investment attraction, promoting economic development and ensuring social security." Accordingly, the end-of-year session of the City People's Council in 2025 passed 62 resolutions, many important policies and measures on economic and social development, ensuring national defense and security and social security, with the goal of building a modern city rich in identity, with humane people of Quang Nam province, joining the whole country in entering the era of national progress, striving to make Da Nang a growth pole of Vietnam by 2030.

Solving housing problems for the people.

Alongside investing in transportation infrastructure, seaports, industrial zones, etc., the city also focuses on investing in social housing projects to meet the housing needs of low-income people, creating "stable and sustainable living," contributing to ensuring social security, progress and equity, and population and urban development.

The commencement of two social housing projects at apartment buildings No. 3 and No. 5 in Zone B - Nam Cam Le Bridge Residential Area (Hoa Xuan Ward) is a testament to the humane and compassionate approach of the city's leaders in directly caring for the lives of the people. This project also contributes to achieving the target of nearly 29,000 social housing units assigned to the city by the Prime Minister for the period 2025-2030.
