Dong Nai will continue to make breakthroughs in building modern new rural areas, happy new rural areas.

(DN) - On the morning of June 24, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review 5 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM), the emulation movement "The whole province joins hands to build NTM" for the period 2021-2025 and the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program in the province.

At the conference, two localities, Vinh Cuu and Cam My districts, received the Certificate of recognition as advanced NTM districts in 2024. Participating in the program were Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, leaders of departments, branches and localities.

Throughout the journey of building new rural areas, advanced rural areas, and models, Dong Nai has always maintained its top position in the country. Up to now, the whole province has 114/116 communes recognized as meeting advanced rural standards (reaching 98.2% of the target by 2025); 43 communes have met model rural standards (reaching 148% of the target by 2025); 100 model residential areas have been recognized. The whole province has 5/9 advanced rural districts. Xuan Loc district has completed the Project to build Xuan Loc district to meet model rural standards in the direction of "Developing sustainable agricultural commodity production" in the period of 2018-2025.

The OCOP program has also achieved many impressive results. To date, the province has 298 products certified as OCOP, of which 50 products have achieved 4 stars (reaching 295% of the target by 2025). Currently, there are 9 OCOP products with 5-star potential that have been submitted by the Provincial People's Committee to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for consideration and evaluation.

Orienting the new phase, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang emphasized that Dong Nai will continue to make breakthroughs in building modern new rural areas and happy new rural areas; determining that building new rural areas only has a starting point, not an ending point.

In particular, propaganda work continues to be promoted to thoroughly grasp the content of the National Target Program on New Rural Development and the system of policies related to agriculture, farmers, and rural areas among all cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life. The province continues to focus on developing production, constantly improving people's income, always considering this as the root in building New Rural Development.

Focus on investing in research, transfer, and application of scientific and technological advances in agricultural production, considering research and transfer of scientific and technological applications in production, preservation, and processing of agricultural products and food as a particularly important breakthrough to promote agricultural production and rural economic development.

Encourage businesses and people to transfer and apply high technology, digital transformation, innovation, artificial intelligence in production and business and supply-demand connection; protect intellectual property, build brands, promote e-commerce, trace origin, control product quality and food safety. Focus on improving the quality of social security work, increasing the level of enjoyment of rural people. Economic and social development must go hand in hand with improving and preserving the environment.
