DTO - Along the gentle Tien River, from the upper reaches of Hong Ngu to Go Cong Dong - Go Cong Tay, a large, fertile, rich land is sharing the name of the new Dong Thap province. This place opens up a super large raw material area of strategic importance for the agriculture and processing industry of the entire Mekong Delta.

Forming strategic agricultural zones
More than the similarity in agricultural advantages, the merger of the two provinces helps to connect the specialized areas into a larger entity. Possessing a vast pineapple specialized area, vast rice fields, high-quality mango, longan and durian areas, and large-scale tra fish farming areas, all are "woven" into a large, rich and potential agricultural raw material network.
The Tien River flows from the upstream to the estuary as an axis connecting the raw material areas of the new Dong Thap province. This flow not only brings alluvium to enrich the land but also opens up the possibility of circulating, linking and reorganizing production by region, cluster, and scientific and effective chain. Also from that irrigation and trade axis, agricultural residential clusters gradually participate in the value chain of processing, export, digital agriculture and circular economy .
Stable raw materials, consistent quality with large output are the prerequisites to attract investors to deep processing, creating products with high added value. Thereby helping the agricultural processing industry of Dong Thap province develop in depth.
Immediately after the merger, the leaders of Dong Thap province quickly started to reorganize production, connect raw material areas with processing enterprises, and create momentum for the development of deep processing industry. The working sessions and field surveys with farmers and enterprises took place urgently and fiercely, showing the clear, consistent spirit of participation and high determination of the provincial leaders.
One of the highlights was the visit and working session of Mr. Phan Van Thang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province with Thanh Ngoc Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Company Limited (Phu Huu commune). Here, the chain of links between farmers, businesses, and the government began to be formed with the pineapple industry.
Through this connection, Tan Phuoc pineapple farmers not only have access to new disease-resistant varieties and advanced cultivation techniques to improve productivity and quality, but also have businesses accompanying them in purchasing, processing, and exporting systematically. Thanh Ngoc Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Company Limited - a member of Vinh Hoan Group with a modern production line including freeze-drying, cold-drying, and freezing is ready to purchase products and expand the pineapple raw material area for organic production for the US, Japan, and Korean markets. It is no longer a story of finding a stable output for agricultural products in a passive way, but rather an orientation to link production according to market demand. This initiative helps agricultural products escape the situation of "good harvest, low price".
Sharing about her willingness to join hands with businesses in building a specialized pineapple growing area for export, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen - a farmer in Tan Phuoc 1 commune frankly expressed: "Businesses bring new varieties, new techniques, with clear output, we farmers are ready to do it. Whatever we can do, businesses will accompany us there." The short statement clearly shows the spirit of learning, ready to change to make agriculture more systematic. Realistic thinking, daring to think, daring to do, daring to accept new things are important foundations for building a standard raw material area.
Looking at the longer-term prospects for the Tan Phuoc 1 pineapple specialized growing area when connected with Thanh Ngoc Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Company Limited, Mr. Le Huu Phuc - Vice Chairman of Tan Phuoc 1 Commune People's Committee expressed: "Tan Phuoc 1 Commune has a fairly large pineapple specialized growing area of 5,000 hectares. However, in recent years, most farmers have cultivated pineapples using traditional methods and techniques, and pineapple varieties that have been cultivated for many years have shown signs of degeneration, and quality and productivity are not really optimal. I think that the proposal of Thanh Ngoc Agricultural Products and Foodstuff Company Limited to connect with farmers to build an export pineapple raw material area produced according to the organic and circular agricultural model will be a promising and sustainable direction for Tan Phuoc pineapples. This connection not only solves the problem of degenerated varieties but also opens up a high-end market, increasing product value".

Ready for the long haul
Right from the first days after the province's merger, My Long Agricultural Service Cooperative (My Hiep commune) proactively registered new trademarks and packaging, promoted trade with businesses in Dao Thanh ward, signed consumption contracts for concentrated honey lemon juice - a 4-star OCOP standard product of the cooperative. This shows the quick adaptation and inquisitive spirit of farmers and businesses when Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces "come together" to become a new, larger and more potential Dong Thap province.
Mr. Le Van Nam - member of the Board of Directors of My Long Agricultural Service Cooperative shared with excitement: “We clearly see the advantages of the raw material area after the merger. Dong Thap province (old) and Tien Giang (old) have many similarities in natural conditions, key crops, especially some key agricultural products such as seedless lemon, durian... Therefore, when the administrative boundaries are expanded, the raw material area is also more seamlessly connected, creating opportunities for the cooperative to coordinate with many gardeners in the province to build a stable quality lemon material area, meeting standards for export to the Dutch market. At the same time, the expansion of the province also contributes to promoting businesses of the two localities to link trade, share logistics systems, promote typical products, and at the same time form a new Dong Thap province business ecosystem - dynamic, creative, capable of supporting each other for sustainable development".
Comrade Phan Van Thang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province said that through listening to the people's concerns, the provincial leaders realized that people still face many difficulties in connecting stable output for products. Meanwhile, large processing enterprises such as Thanh Ngoc Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs Company Limited have available potential and modern production lines that meet export standards but have not yet built sustainable raw material areas. From this reality, the provincial leaders clearly identified the role of "bridge", promoting the cooperation between enterprises and farmers to jointly develop the industry according to the chain. Not only stopping at orientation, the provincial leaders committed to accompany throughout, support mechanisms and policies, create the most favorable conditions for the parties to coordinate effectively, contributing to raising the value of Dong Thap agricultural products in the international market".

From the new administrative map, the “map of opportunities” gradually emerges - where raw material areas are planned, production is closely linked to deep processing, output is closely connected to the international market and each farmer becomes a valuable link in the modern agricultural chain. This will be the foundation for building sustainable agriculture, adapting to climate change and meeting global market demand...
