Donnarumma says goodbye to PSG. |
Donnarumma was left out of PSG's squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham on the morning of August 14, with new signing Lucas Chevalier replacing him. Despite a successful season with PSG, helping the team win the historic Champions League in May, the Italy international was left out of the squad after a contract extension failed to be agreed.
Enzo Raiola, Donnarumma's current agent, expressed his disappointment at PSG's treatment. Raiola said: "We are shocked by the way PSG treated Donnarumma. The club has no respect for him after four years of association. We will review the situation with our legal team. There will be other solutions for Donnarumma, maybe he will go to the Premier League, where there are teams that can afford it."
Raiola also pointed out that PSG are demanding a large transfer fee despite Donnarumma having just one year left on his contract. "They talk about respect, but it's all about money," Raiola stressed.
PSG coach Luis Enrique took full responsibility for leaving Donnarumma out of the squad. "The decision was mine. I wanted a different type of goalkeeper. Gigio is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world ," he said.
PSG are demanding around £40m for Donnarumma. The Italian goalkeeper is said to have agreed personal terms to join Man City this summer.
