Gianluigi Donnarumma is currently the most prominent face in world football, having been eliminated from the PSG squad for the 2025 European Super Cup and put on the transfer market.
The Italian national team captain was the hero who helped PSG win the Champions League for the first time.

Without his spectacular saves in the knockout stages – against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal – Ousmane Dembele's goals would have lost their meaning.
Donnarumma was angry: “ To the Paris fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything, both on and off the pitch, to earn my place and defend the PSG goal.
Unfortunately, someone has decided that I am no longer part of the team or contributing to the team's success. I am very disappointed and frustrated."
Donnarumma alluded to PSG's board of directors, as they did not want to renew his contract. "I hope I have the opportunity to look straight into the eyes of the fans at the Parc des Princes one last time, to say a proper goodbye," he wrote on social media.
“If that doesn't happen, please know that your support and love means a lot to me. I will never forget it.”
For his part, in a press conference before the 2025 European Super Cup with Tottenham (2am on August 14), coach Luis Enrique clarified this issue.
“Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, without a doubt, and even better as a person,” Luis Enrique began.
“However, this is the life of top football players. I take full responsibility for this difficult decision,” he continued.
If it were easy, everyone would do it. These decisions are about the type of goalkeeper my team needs.”

The contract renewal process between Donnarumma and PSG has been stalled for many months. The Paris team wants him to sign a new contract with a salary based on the number of matches and achievements.
PSG decided not to renew Donnarumma's contract. The Champions League champions recruited Lucas Chevalier to replace him.
“Chevalier and Renato Marin have also arrived as new signings. It is always a difficult decision. I know,” Luis Enrique continued about the Donnarumma controversy.
“I can only speak well of Donnarumma,” he reiterated; “he is one of the best goalkeepers, for sure, and even better as a person.
But we are looking for a different type of goalkeeper. I repeat: it is always difficult to handle situations like this.”
