VIETMUS Project: A Journey Towards Global Integration in Music Education

Recently, the Central University of Arts Education held the Closing Ceremony of the VIETMUS Project Training Course “On-site Practical Lab and Organizing a Music Creation Competition on a Digital Platform”.

This is a significant event marking the success of the intensive training program in digital music technology, opening a new direction in music education in Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were the VIETMUS Coordination Board, project coordinators from the European Union: Palermo Conservatory (Italy), Erasmushogeschool Brussel (Belgium), Yasar University (Turkey), and project members from Vietnamese universities including Thu Dau Mot University, An Giang University, Ha Long University, Da Nang University of Education, Dong Thap University, and the Central University of Arts Education. The ceremony was also attended by representatives from member schools of the Club of Schools Training in Culture and Arts.

Representing the Central University of Arts Education were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Vinh Hung - Rector, Ms. Trinh Thi Thanh - Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Vice Rector, representatives of the leadership of various units, lecturers, trainees and students of the University.

The VIETMUS project officially launched in January 2023 with the goal of promoting digital transformation and building new digital capabilities in teaching and performance within the higher education system for music in Vietnam. The project is implemented with six work packages designed to address challenges in music education and adapt to global digital transformation trends.

Within the framework of the training program, task packages 4 and 5 of the project were held at the Central University of Arts Education from March 25th to 30th, 2025. During the five-day training, the project successfully implemented a training program on digital music production, providing valuable knowledge and skills to lecturers and students. Learners not only became familiar with the Moodle online learning platform and teaching support software but were also introduced to advanced audio simulation editing tools. Besides theoretical learning, the program focused on practical application with automation management software, guiding methods for building and implementing professional music projects. Notably, the program also expanded to include the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in music composition and in-depth practice with Chataigne software, helping students unlock their creative potential and apply modern technology to practice.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training program, the Rector of the Central University of Arts Education, Le Vinh Hung, emphasized the significance of the training program for the development of music education in Vietnam. The Associate Professor affirmed that the VIETMUS Project training program, "On-site Practical Lab and Organizing a Digital Music Creation Competition," was successfully completed, fulfilling all tasks according to the project's schedule and progress. The training helped lecturers and students grasp fundamental knowledge of digital music technology and develop their creative abilities. In particular, the combination of theory and practice created an effective learning environment, enabling lecturers and students to confidently implement their own ideas.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Vinh Hung shared: “Looking back at the journey of implementing the VIETMUS Project, I am extremely pleased with the proud achievements we have attained. This training session not only marks the successful conclusion of the project but also opens up a wide horizon of future cooperation – not limited to Vietnamese universities but extending to art education institutions worldwide. The project has created a solid foundation for us to continue working together, enhancing the professional capacity of our staff and lecturers, while also opening valuable opportunities for students to develop their potential and hone their personal skills in the field of music.”

On behalf of the Project Management Board at the Central University of Arts Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Vinh Hung expressed his deep gratitude to the experts from universities in the European Union who were present today, the project members, coordinators, and lecturers from six universities in Vietnam, as well as the member schools of the Club of Cultural and Arts Training Institutions who participated online. The presence and dedicated contributions of the experts and guests played a crucial role in the success of the training program "On-site Practical Lab and Organizing a Digital Music Creation Competition".

Speaking at the event, Professor Raffaele Longo, Director of the VIETMUS Project, expressed his sincere gratitude to the students who contributed their intellect, creativity, and enthusiasm to the project's success. Their active participation created an inspiring learning and working environment. He also thanked the member universities for their support and for creating favorable conditions for the project's effective implementation. In particular, he thanked the Central University of Arts Education for providing a professional workspace, giving experts the opportunity to learn, network, and develop.

The professor affirmed: This project is not only an opportunity to acquire knowledge but also a bridge for cultural exchange, raising environmental awareness, and promoting international cooperation. The values ​​we have reaped will be the foundation for continued expansion and development in the future.

A highlight of the training program was the VIETMUS Music Start Cup – a creative platform for young talents to showcase their passion and abilities. Aimed at encouraging innovation in music and providing opportunities for students to develop their talents, the competition honored the most outstanding talents through prestigious awards: Innovative Concept Cup: Recognizing the most groundbreaking musical idea; Excellence in Performance Award: Honoring the best performance; Outstanding Quality Trophy: For the work with the highest artistic quality; Sustainability Impact Award: For the work with a positive impact on the environment and society; Creative Vision Award: Recognizing uniqueness and contemporary relevance. These awards not only acknowledge the efforts of the students but also serve as motivation to continue pursuing their passion for music and contribute to raising the profile of Vietnamese and global music.

The closing ceremony of the VIETMUS Project Training not only concluded a meaningful training program but also opened a new path where technology and art intersect, offering bright learning and creative opportunities for the younger generation. With the success of this training session, students from the Central University of Arts Education, along with students from music training institutions across Vietnam, had the opportunity to access modern teaching methods, enhance their creative skills and professional development, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of music education in the country.
