The above is the forecast of Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Hue , Deputy Head of Training Management Department, Academy of Journalism and Communication, through an overall analysis of the 2025 high school graduation exam score distribution.
According to Dr. Hue, all of the school's admission combinations based on high school graduation exam scores include Literature. However, this year's Literature score distribution has not changed much, while the Math and English exam questions are considered more difficult than last year, with good differentiation of scores.
"For admission combinations with Math and English, the benchmark score may decrease. For the remaining combinations, the benchmark score is expected to not change much," said Dr. Hue.
According to the admission plan, the Academy of Journalism and Communication accepts the conversion of English scores for candidates with IELTS, TOEFL ITP, VSTEP certificates... instead of only considering high school graduation exam scores.
Preliminary statistics show that the number of candidates registering under this category has increased significantly compared to last year. Therefore, although the English score range this year is low, thanks to the conversion of certificates, the admission score is still high. Therefore, the standard score to enter the academy is forecasted to be stable, only decreasing slightly depending on the training group/industry.
The recent streamlining of the press and media system has made many candidates more cautious when choosing to study this major. However, according to Dr. Hue, the number of candidates interested in hot majors at the academy such as Television Journalism, Electronic Journalism, Multimedia Communications, Marketing Communications still shows no signs of cooling down, with high benchmark scores predicted.
"The above predictions are for reference only, because the benchmark depends on many other factors such as the quota of the industry/training program and the number of registered candidates," Dr. Hue emphasized.

This year, the Academy of Journalism and Communication will enroll more than 2,000 students. The school still divides its training programs into four groups. Group 1 includes Journalism and Publishing; Group 2 is Theory, Group 3 is History, and Group 4 includes Communication, Advertising, and International Relations. Three admission methods remain stable, including considering academic records, combined admission, and considering high school graduation.
The Academy's floor scores are 18 and 25, respectively, out of a scale of 30 and 40, similar to last year.
Regardless of the admission method, candidates must meet the general requirements of achieving an average annual grade point average of 6.5 or higher and good conduct.
With the graduation exam score method, majors in groups 1 (journalism and publishing), 3 (history) and 4 (communication, advertising, international relations) have a floor score of 25/40, in which the main subject is multiplied by a coefficient of 2. Majors in group 2 (theoretical block) have an entrance threshold of 18/30. Both of these floors remain unchanged compared to 2024.
With the admission method combining academic records and international certificates (SAT, IELTS), candidates must have an average score of 7 or higher in 6 semesters of Literature or English, depending on the major or group of majors applied for.
Last year, according to the graduation exam score review method, the Multimedia and History majors had the highest entrance scores, 28.25/30 and 38.12/40 respectively.
