Da Nhim – Ham Thuan – Da Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company (DHĐ) has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province and related units about the plan to gradually accumulate water level in Ham Thuan lake.
Specifically, to ensure sufficient water supply for downstream areas to serve agricultural production and daily life during the dry season of 2024, DHHD Company plans to gradually accumulate water levels in Ham Thuan Lake to the normal water level of 605.0 m. The water accumulation period starts from September 27.
According to DHĐ Company, from the beginning of July 2023 until now, there has been continuous rain in the Ham Thuan reservoir basin, the water flow to the lake is always high. The water level of Ham Thuan reservoir at 0:00 on September 25, 2023 reached 602.772 m, 0.27 m higher than the highest water level before the flood of 602.5 m, 2.23 m lower than the normal water level.
While the 2023 rainy season is forecast to end early in the Ham Thuan reservoir basin, total rainfall in November and December 2023 will be 15-30% lower than the average of many years. From January to March 2024, there will be little rain, total rainfall will be lower than the average of many years in the same period, and unseasonal rain is unlikely to occur in the area.
Previously, on September 25, DHHD Company announced the release of water through Ham Thuan spillway on the afternoon of September 25, with a discharge flow of 25m3/s and can be adjusted to increase depending on the hydrometeorological situation of the reservoir to ensure the safety of the reservoir due to the influence of tropical depression causing heavy rain.
