(Dan Tri) - Phu Quoc tourism is flourishing as it is favored by international and domestic tourists for the year-end and New Year holidays.
Mr. Selcuk Iscimen - CEO of the travel company in Türkiye - Dorak Mice praised Phu Quoc after watching the show Kiss of the Sea at "Sunset Town": "What an impressive performance".
Mr. Murzabekov Dauren, a businessman from Kazakhstan, shared: "Phu Quoc is not only a destination for entertainment, but also offers a sense of privacy with exclusive experiences - something that high-end tourists and Kazakh businessmen like me value very much."
According to statistics, in 2024, Phu Quoc welcomed more than 5.9 million visitors. In late December, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 30 international flights, proving that Phu Quoc's attractiveness is increasingly improving.

Favorite destination for international and domestic visitors
Less than a year ago, Phu Quoc appeared in the Korean newspaper Chosun as a favorite destination for foreign tourists but lacking domestic tourists. At that time, Phu Quoc was reported by domestic media for its current situation of snatching, overcharging, pollution, etc.
However, by the end of the year, Phu Quoc tourism is picking up. According to statistics from the online booking platform Booking.com, Phu Quoc is in the top 3 destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists for the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, up 180% over the same period last year. The international tourist market is even more good news, as international airports and international cruise ports are packed with foreign tourists everywhere.
On December 18, Phu Quoc welcomed 2,000 visitors on cruise ships, and on December 20, there were 2 new flights from Singapore and Xi'an, China. Phu Quoc's flight chart is increasing vertically at the end of the year, when the "pearl island" receives nearly 30 international flights each day, while the same period in 2023 was 2-5 flights per day.
Phu Quoc tourism is bustling with many new international flights.
Phu Quoc is now an attractive destination, a new resort and entertainment center of the region and the world , a destination for high-end tourists from all over the world. International media also gives Phu Quoc more "winged" words, such as the American travel magazine - Travel + Leisure - putting it in the top most attractive islands in the world after Maldives, or the top 10 most wonderful islands in Asia according to Condé Nast Traveler.
The journey of dramatic change
The recent growth in the number of visitors and the trust of domestic and foreign tourists is the clearest evidence of the "pearl island's" spirit of learning and determination to restore tourism after the pandemic.
In 2024, Phu Quoc City will take many drastic actions to improve urban order, launch many campaigns to control tourism quality and services, as well as promote tourism products to key markets.
This is one of the actions that demonstrates Phu Quoc's persistent efforts in its journey to become a new destination in the world. The development of tourism on the "pearl island" requires a journey of decades, with the consensus of local authorities, investors and people.
If 10 years ago, Phu Quoc island did not have a single 5-star hotel, now the island has 700 establishments with over 24,000 rooms, including 29 4-5 star hotels with over 13,000 rooms, and countless entertainment areas with thousands of billions of dong invested.

In the South of Phu Quoc Island is a gathering place of 5-star resorts, magnificent architectural works and entertainment complexes with the highest total investment in Vietnam. Previously, it was a fishing village with simple beaches and almost no services.
The milestone marking the journey of change of the South Island can be mentioned in 2016, whenSun Group inaugurated the 5-star resort on the pearl island - JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay. Nearly a decade later, the overall picture of a modern South Island is constantly being created by constructions.
Kem Beach, Ong Doi Cape and the pristine Dat Do Beach now have up to 5 5-star resorts, managed by the world's leading brands such as Marriott International, Accor, Rosewood Hotels, Curio Collection by Hilton.
Dat Do Beach lacks the experience of now being called "Sunset Town", the top tourist destination in Phu Quoc with large-scale projects, Vui Phet night market, the show "Kiss of the sea" and "Ocean Symphony" that entertains visitors with 2 brilliant fireworks displays every night.
In December, Sun Group also started construction of the Aspiration building on Hon Thom, with a total investment of 13,000 billion VND. It is expected that in the next 2 years, this place will become a resort - entertainment - commercial complex with high-class experiences.
In the same month, Sun Group also brought the Rixos brand, a brand with high-end resort experiences, to Phu Quoc, managing a luxury all-inclusive resort in Hon Thom in the future.

Looking at the graph of the number of visitors to Phu Quoc, from less than 600,000 in 2014 to 10 times more, reaching approximately 6 million in 2024, we can see that the island has changed greatly. With the advantage of being the center of Southeast Asia, beautiful nature, visa exemption policy for international visitors up to 30 days and little investment in tourism infrastructure, the future of Phu Quoc becoming a tourist destination, competing directly with Bali and Phuket is not far away.
That is similar to how Mr. Mehmet Kin - Vice President of Crystal Bay Group - commented: "I believe that within just 5 years, Phu Quoc will transform from a regional destination to a global destination".
