Leverage potential and advantages.

With its rich and unique natural resources, especially with the expansion of its 130km coastline, there are great opportunities to develop tourism connecting rivers to the sea, community tourism, cultural and historical tourism, and handicraft village tourism... creating new, colorful experiences and extending the length of stay for tourists.

As a land of "spiritual and talented people," with a glorious revolutionary tradition and the birthplace of many high-ranking leaders of the Party and State, the province has great potential for cultural and historical tourism, such as: the Memorial Area of Chairman of the Council of Ministers Pham Hung, the Memorial Area of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, the Memorial Area of General Nguyen Thi Dinh, the Memorial Area of Heroine Martyr Nguyen Thi Ut (Ut Tich), the Memorial Area of Professor and Academician Tran Dai Nghia, the Tomb and Memorial Area of Nguyen Dinh Chieu…

The province is home to the long-standing coexistence of three main ethnic groups: Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa, who have converged to create a unique culture with many traditional festivals, distinctive arts and culture, and unique historical, cultural, and architectural relics. The province boasts 3 national treasures, 16 national intangible cultural heritage sites, 214 classified historical sites, and over 70 traditional craft villages…

According to Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, during the past term, the province focused on implementing solutions to promote tourism development, making it an important economic sector and gradually a key economic sector, linked with the preservation and promotion of national cultural values, historical heritage, and local identity; developing both domestic and international tourism simultaneously. The total number of visitors during the 2020-2025 period reached over 26 million, with revenue exceeding 22 trillion VND, surpassing the targets set in the resolution.

The province currently has 67 travel agencies, 356 tourist accommodation establishments including 121 hotels, 163 guesthouses, and 70 homestays; 24 typical tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta, 13 provincial-level tourist areas/sites, and 43 service establishments meeting standards for serving tourists. Many tourist destinations and experiences are well-received by both domestic and international tourists.

The tourism sector has advised on and implemented numerous resolutions and policies to support tourism development. Total investment in tourism during the 2020-2025 period reached nearly 15 trillion VND, with dozens of key tourism projects such as: the Mang Thít brick and pottery kiln area, the Cồn Giông ecological tourism area, the Tra Vinh Khmer cultural and tourism area, and tourism infrastructure in the Ba Động, Cồn Chim, and Cồn Qui coastal areas… As a result, the face of tourism is gradually changing, and products are becoming increasingly diverse. Promotion and marketing efforts have been strengthened through linkages with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.

Making tourism a key economic sector.

Mr. Duong Hoang Sum shared that the province's perspective on sustainable tourism development is to develop tourism in conjunction with cultural and ecological preservation, with the community at the center, and ensuring a harmonious balance of economic, social, and environmental benefits. Specifically, the province always encourages community-based tourism and green tourism models, raising awareness of cultural behavior and service styles, and building a safe and civilized tourism environment. Local people are not only the subjects of heritage preservation but also directly benefit from tourism.

The provincial tourism sector aims for tourism to contribute 6-7% to the province's GRDP by 2030. Accordingly, the sector will implement key solutions focusing on building the province's tourism brand based on the motto "One route - Three destinations".

Leveraging the advantages of each region to develop key tourism products: beaches, Khmer culture, green urban areas, and ecotourism... Focusing on attracting strategic investors to build high-quality tourist and resort areas and destinations, aiming to form key tourism regions with a focus on "Coconut Culture," "Khmer Culture," and "Pottery."

Simultaneously, invest in infrastructure and cultural and sports facilities that meet the requirements for hosting regional and national sports events, linked to the development of resort, sports, culinary, and entertainment tourism. Build a "smart tourism" ecosystem; strengthen state management related to the tourism sector in conjunction with technology…

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Vinh Long has a history of nearly 300 years of formation and development. It is not only a birthplace of many talented individuals but also a land rich in cultural works and historical relics. The province's tourism sector has made significant strides and is gradually attracting visitors from near and far. These achievements are the result of the unity of the people and the innovative thinking of the province's tourism industry.

Dr. Duong Duc Minh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Economic and Tourism Development Research of Ho Chi Minh City, stated: "Vinh Long province has many islets, creating a unique form of community-based tourism experience. The journey from river to sea allows tourists to perceive a diverse and rich travel context, with changes in both depth and outward form."

“We believe that with determination, close coordination among provincial departments, agencies, localities, and associations, the support of tourism businesses, and the backing of the local community, this will be the driving force and leverage to help Vinh Long's tourism industry develop remarkably, gradually affirming its position on the national tourism map,” shared Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh.
