(Fatherland) - On the morning of December 26, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025. Striving to achieve the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international tourists by 2025
Reporting on the implementation of tasks in 2024 and the deployment of directions and tasks in 2025, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said that in 2024, the tourism industry continued to receive deep attention from leaders of the Party, State, and National Assembly; the drastic and close direction of the Government, Prime Minister , and leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the support of ministries, branches, and localities; the positive response of the business community and people nationwide.
With the motto of action "accelerate, be creative, reach the finish line" and the spirit of "3 Determination, 4 Proactivity, 5 Efficiency", the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has proactively advised many solutions, implemented many important tasks to promote tourism development and achieved important results in 2024. Tourism has grown impressively, becoming a bright spot in the overall socio -economic development of the country.
In 2024, the number of international tourists to Vietnam is estimated at 17.5 million; an increase of 38.9% over the same period in 2023; The total number of domestic tourists in 2024 is estimated at 110 million; an increase of 1.6% over the same period in 2023; Total revenue from tourists in 2024 is estimated at about 840 trillion VND; an increase of 23.8% over the same period in 2023.
Deputy Minister Ho An Phong and Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh chaired the Conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration.
Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu said that in 2024, closely following the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, based on the practical situation, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has proactively researched, provided timely and accurate advice to the Ministry's leaders in implementing key tasks, regular political tasks as well as ad hoc tasks to ensure quality and progress according to the 2024 Work Plan.
The work of building institutions and policies for tourism development continues to be focused on. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has completed 5 tasks assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister; completed 2/3 of the tasks committed to the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In addition, complete tasks according to the 2024 Work Plan; Organize and coordinate the organization of many promotion and advertising tasks in markets on 4 continents, including ad hoc tasks.
In 2024, tourism activities nationwide will continue to maintain recovery momentum and accelerate development. The number of domestic tourists will maintain growth; the number of international tourists will increase in many destinations. Room rates and tourism services will not have many major fluctuations. Security, order, environmental sanitation, and food safety at destinations will be ensured...
"The increase in international visitors proves the right and timely direction of Vietnamese tourism in restructuring the tourist market, orienting to renew products, effective promotion and advertising both on the ground and on digital platforms, and the positive effects of the new visa policy, including the contributions of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism," said Mr. Ha Van Sieu.

According to Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu, 2025 is a year of special significance in implementing and completing socio-economic development goals according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025. 2025 is also a year with many major national holidays. The tourism industry is facing historic opportunities stemming from the interest of the entire political system and society in the driving role of tourism in the economy; the international tourist market still has a lot of room for growth under the conditions of favorable policies on visas and immigration.
In addition, Vietnam has great potential to meet new global tourism trends: sustainable tourism, responsible for the environment and society; tourists choosing less crowded destinations; shifting from "sightseeing" to "experience"; health care tourism; multi-generational family tourism; tourism with AI-designed itineraries... These trends will open up a sustainable development direction for Vietnam's tourism, both effectively exploiting existing potential and better meeting the needs of tourists in the context of strong globalization and digitalization as today.
In 2025, the tourism industry strives to achieve the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international tourists; serving 120-130 million domestic tourists; total revenue from tourists reaching about 980 - 1,050 trillion VND.
In 2025, the tourism industry will also focus on completing tasks related to drafting documents and state management projects; tasks of implementing Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP, Directive 08/CT-TTg, Official Dispatch 06/CD-TTg; organizing conferences and seminars as well as performing communication, promotion and advertising tasks.

At the Conference, representatives of departments and units under the Vietnam National Tourism Administration gave speeches and discussed the results achieved, advantages, difficulties, directions and tasks in 2025 as well as proposals and recommendations of the units to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Tourism Administration.
Further promote tourism promotion
Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized that in 2024, despite facing many difficulties and challenges (consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, impacts of natural disasters, difficulties of domestic aviation...), the Vietnamese tourism industry has successfully completed its assigned tasks, reaching the finish line with very good results. Tourism continues to be one of the bright spots in the country's socio-economic picture in 2024.

According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, one of the important highlights of the tourism industry in the work of drafting documents and state management projects in 2024 is to advise the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to submit to the Prime Minister for promulgation Directive No. 08 dated February 23, 2024 on comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development in the coming time. Along with Resolution No. 82 of the Government on key tasks and solutions to accelerate recovery and accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development, Directive No. 08 is one of the very important orientations to innovate state management activities and promote tourism promotion in the coming time.
In particular, in December 2024, we successfully organized the first UN Tourism International Conference on Rural Tourism in Quang Nam. This is one of the largest international conferences that Vietnam will host in 2024, attracting the participation of more than 300 delegates from 50 countries around the world, representing national and local management agencies of UN Tourism member countries and Vietnam, international organizations, the tourism community and the private sector.
In addition, the success of the 2024 year-end conference and 2025 task deployment of the culture, sports and tourism sector under the chair and direct direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh clearly affirmed the attention of Party and State leaders to the fields of culture, sports and tourism.
According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, in 2024, tourism promotion and advertising work has had many innovations and breakthroughs. In particular, the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Program in the United States with the theme "Vietnam - New Destination of World Cinema" in Los Angeles, California was organized very successfully, attracting the participation of many leading Hollywood filmmakers.
On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong commended the efforts, results and contributions of the tourism industry to the development of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as the overall socio-economic development of the country.
Regarding key tasks in 2025, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong suggested that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism continue to effectively implement two strategic tasks: tourism management and tourism promotion.
In particular, the Deputy Minister suggested that in the coming time, the National Tourism Administration should focus on advising competent authorities to summarize 8 years of implementing Resolution No. 08 of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector. At the same time, advise on policy planning in the coming time.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's leadership advised the Government to submit to the National Assembly to amend the Law on Tourism, rebuild the system of legal documents of the tourism industry to suit the new situation.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism needs to continue to work with localities, creating the most favorable conditions for localities to develop tourism. Further promote tourism promotion, especially in key markets.
The Deputy Minister also requested the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to continue promoting positive achievements in 2024, overcome existing limitations to accelerate and develop the tourism industry in the coming time.
