Putting robots to work in many places

Although there are still many imperfections, robots are increasingly used in many fields in Vietnam.

Some of the areas where robots are being used today include restaurants, hotels, banks, exhibition centers, and even public administration centers.

Replace many human tasks

At the iTech Expo 2025 International Technology Fair and Exhibition recently organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Information Technology Association in collaboration with other organizations, right from the entrance, attendees were impressed by the modern robot with a compact design. This robot can greet guests through its built-in speaker, guide the way using a touch screen, and automatically avoid obstacles.

In addition, the event also featured a delivery robot that could travel to the guests’ location to deliver documents. The robot’s touch screen displayed a QR code, allowing guests to conveniently look up event information; on its body were shelves containing promotional documents.

Mr. Do Hoang Huy, an employee at the exhibition, said that the robots participating in the event can operate continuously for 6-8 hours/day, almost replacing receptionists in the task of giving directions and introductions. Thanks to the integration of the AI ChatGPT model, the robots communicate quite naturally, navigate intelligently and can connect to systems such as scheduling, check-in, etc.

Visiting the exhibition, Mr. Truong Viet Hoang (living in Vinh Hoi ward, Ho Chi Minh City) was quite excited when interacting with the reception robot. "As soon as I entered, I saw the robot approaching, greeting me in Vietnamese and inviting me to scan the QR code to see the exhibition map. Very friendly, cute and convenient!" - Mr. Hoang commented. Meanwhile, many other visitors appreciated the delivery robot when it provided information and documents related to the event. "On the robot's touch screen, a quick survey is displayed, thanks to which businesses can access user information and connect more effectively" - said a visitor.

At the TikTok Shop Vietnam Summit 2025 event that just took place, robots were also tasked with approaching potential customers through smart interactive forms. Similarly, at the 2025 Vietnamese Export Goods Fair organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, robots appeared as booth guides.

Notably, robots have also been used in the field of public administration. In the early days of operating the two-level local government, at the Thu Duc Ward Public Administration Service Center (HCMC), people coming to do procedures were surprised by the appearance of two robots to replace humans. On the robots' trays were available files, papers, and drinks to serve people coming to do procedures, helping to save time and effort.

Notably, at the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival held last May, smart robots can communicate in multiple languages, including Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Indian, Thai... These robots are like "mini switchboard operators", able to listen and respond directly by voice in real time, and flexibly handle questions and situations from users.

Future trends

Although it has made an impression and been highly appreciated, many opinions reflect that the experience of interacting with robots at some events is still not perfect. Common limitations are the transmission line, interface, response and voice of the robot. "Hopefully the limitations of robots will soon be improved, bringing a smarter and more intimate technology experience" - Ms. Anh Thu, a tourist attending the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival, expressed.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, representative of Au Lac Technology and Media Application Company Limited (Alta Media, the unit developing humanoid robots), putting robots into service is an inevitable trend. The development of robots not only demonstrates the increasingly high level of technology but also opens up new application opportunities. Currently, robots are gradually replacing humans in many production stages such as welding, arranging, packaging... In addition, robots can also take on the role of monitoring and protecting warehouses thanks to being equipped with cameras and fire detection sensors.

"With the strong development of AI models, in the near future, robots will become more intelligent, more personalized and can handle even complex tasks well," Mr. Cong affirmed.

A recent report by market research and analysis firm Future Market Insights shows that the global robotics market is expected to grow significantly, from $31.86 billion in 2025 to $190.8 billion in 2035. The forecast growth rate is 19.6% per year.

The main driving force for the boom in the robot market comes from the growing demand for automation, rising labor costs and high requirements for precision and speed in production. Therefore, the application of robots will be expanded - from traditional manufacturing plants to the fields of medicine, logistics, agriculture , defense and even in the family.

From the perspective of a robot company, Toshihiro Kaseda, CEO of Kawasaki Robotics, said: "Robots are not just a tool but also a transformation. In every field, robots are driving innovation, precision and sustainable growth." This statement shows the increasingly important role of next-generation robots - with flexibility, autonomy and intelligence in solving society's challenges - thanks to the continuous advancement of AI, sensors and mobile technology.

Introducing "made in Vietnam" humanoid robot

Recently, social networks have been abuzz with a series of images and videos recording a humanoid robot model bearing the logo of VinMotion - a subsidiary of Vingroup Corporation.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Quan, Chairman of VinMotion, affirmed that the humanoid robot is a "made in Vietnam" product. Up to now, the company has deployed and continuously improved 5 versions of the robot. According to him, now is the "golden" time for Vietnam to make its mark on the world technology map - which is led by the US in research but China has an advantage in the supply chain. Meanwhile, Vietnam is emerging as a new technology manufacturing center with reasonable costs and a team of highly skilled engineers. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to enter the race.
