Market Overview July 26, 2025
Pepper prices today, July 26, 2025, recorded a significant slowdown in the domestic market after a series of continuous price reductions. This brings a more positive sentiment to traders and producers.
Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), commented that the pepper market is gradually showing positive signs. The suppressed consumer demand in the first half of the year is expected to be "released", forcing importers to return to the market to supplement supply.
Vietnam’s 2025 pepper harvest has ended with an estimated output of 180,000 tonnes, down 10,000 tonnes from 2024 due to a lack of new planting area expansion. Although pepper prices remain high compared to the same period last year, the attractiveness of investment in pepper is declining due to competition with higher-value crops such as durian and coffee.
In the second quarter of 2025, domestic pepper prices fluctuated due to policy factors and business psychology. After peaking at VND157,000/kg at the end of April, pepper prices dropped sharply to VND123,000/kg in the third week of June due to information about US import tariffs and the amended VAT Law taking effect without specific instructions. However, the market quickly recovered and stabilized around VND140,000/kg, showing optimism that export demand will be active again in the fourth quarter when policy factors are clarified.
