Bringing literary works

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động22/11/2024

Digital transformation has been widely implemented across many organizations, helping to bring literary and artistic works closer to the public.

On November 22nd, the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ho Chi Minh City organized a scientific seminar with the theme "How can literary and artistic works reach the public?".

A special tax regime is needed.

During the workshop, experts in the field of culture and arts were deeply concerned about how to ensure that works of art truly become an attractive source of spiritual nourishment for the public, especially in the context of intense competition with many other forms of entertainment.

Associate Professor Tran Luan Kim, Head of the Theoretical and Critical Studies Committee of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ho Chi Minh City, observes that in the trend of digital transformation, the application of technology and social media platforms to promote literary and artistic works has been and is being widely disseminated and introduced to the public by artists and writers.

Một cảnh trong vở cải lương “Lê Văn Duyệt - Người mang 9 án tử” (tác giả: Phạm Văn Quý, chuyển thể: Võ Tử Uyên, đạo diễn: NSƯT Hoa Hạ, Công ty TNHH Sự kiện Giải trí WE - Hoàng Hải Production thực hiện)

No longer limited to performances, exhibitions, and displays as before, people can now easily find works of art on social media channels. Therefore, it is crucial that the content of the artwork is good, high-quality, and engaging to viewers.

Recently, in the National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance 's proposal to increase taxes on cultural activities from 5% to 10% has attracted considerable attention from artists and writers. Many are concerned about this tax increase. Numerous artists and writers believe that this tax hike equates profit-driven, crowd-pleasing cultural and artistic activities with high-value, wholesome forms of entertainment.

Many insiders believe it's impossible to compare the overall state of the country's literature and arts to a handful of star singers, renowned stage artists, fashion models, and blockbuster films with high incomes. Currently, the vast majority of artists in the fields of theater, film, music, literature, art design, photography, dance, etc., along with businesses operating in the performing arts, publishing, theater, film, and music and dance sectors, are facing extremely difficult economic circumstances. This is because art forms with high aesthetic value and sound artistic vision always suffer from a "niche" audience.

Promoting the finest aspects of culture.

In the digital age, launching and operating a website is extremely important for professional arts organizations.

Stages such as the Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theatre, the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre, the IDECAF Theatre, the Hong Van Theatre, the Thien Dang Theatre, the Hong Hac Theatre, the Hoang Thai Thanh Theatre, the Quoc Thao Theatre, and the Truong Hung Minh Art Theatre… have launched websites. These theatrical art units in Ho Chi Minh City all aim to research, collect, preserve, and promote the finest and most distinctive aspects of theatrical art.

Most performing arts organizations have effectively implemented online ticket sales with various customer support services. Furthermore, many organizations have used their Fanpages and those of famous artists to organize interactive livestreams with audiences to promote their works, discuss upcoming roles, and more.

Theaters such as Thien Dang, Hoang Thai Thanh, The Gioi Tre, Hong Van, Quoc Thao, Truong Hung Minh… have digitized much of the content in their system's archives. By simply typing the title of a play, audiences can find complete information about the work and the participating artists.

In reality, the digital transformation of the theater is an essential requirement in the journey to attract audiences. Even through current social media platforms, artists themselves are taking on many new roles and responsibilities, with the common goal of bringing audiences back to the theater.

Few would have thought that, in his role as Director of the Southern Arts Theatre, Meritorious Artist Le Dien always takes advantage of livestreaming to make it easier for audiences to keep up with information about circus arts activities, especially through trips taking artists from Ho Chi Minh City to compete in other countries.

Screenwriter Duong Cam Thuy, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Film Association, emphasized: "For culture and art to develop, there needs to be a special mechanism for the creative arts community to practice their profession in accordance with the state's guidelines and policies."
