Introduce Japanese into teaching from grade 3 to grade 12

TPO - During the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and his wife to Vietnam, the two countries signed a Framework Agreement on teaching Japanese in Vietnamese high schools and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing human resources in the semiconductor field.

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training , in the Framework Agreement on teaching Japanese in Vietnamese high schools, Vietnam will implement teaching Japanese at all levels of general education (from grade 3 to grade 12) nationwide. The implementation period is from 2025 to 2034.

Based on learners' needs and actual conditions, localities can consider supporting the teaching of Japanese as a first foreign language in some primary and secondary schools and ensure appropriate connectivity with students' completion of the study program.

In localities where Japanese is taught as a second foreign language in junior high and high schools, the authorities will consider maintaining the necessary support to ensure that Japanese continues to be taught in a stable manner so that students can complete their studies.

During his visit to Vietnam, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru (holding flowers) visited Vietnam-Japan University (Vietnam National University, Hanoi ).

To implement this agreement, the Japanese side will provide support within the budget for schools teaching Japanese; cooperate to the extent possible in sending Japanese language experts to assist in completing the program and compiling Japanese language textbooks; and provide necessary learning materials and reference materials for teaching and learning Japanese.

Japan will send Japanese language experts to high schools. Organize training courses for Vietnamese Japanese language teachers according to regulations and take on some teaching hours as teaching assistants when necessary. Organize training courses to improve Japanese language skills and Japanese teaching methods for teachers. Create conditions for students, teachers, and school administrators to visit, study Japanese, and participate in cultural exchanges in Japan, etc.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing human resources in the semiconductor field between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, the two sides agreed to receive about 250 doctoral students in the field of semiconductors, and double the number of students participating in the Sakura Science Research Program on exchanging new generation human resources in the field of advanced science and technology of Vietnam, including the field of semiconductors.
