On October 23, a source from Dan Tri reporter said that Mr. Pham Van Nam, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province, had forwarded a citizen's complaint against Mr. Pham Minh Trung, Vice Principal of An Thanh Secondary School (Van Duc commune) to the Chairman of the People's Committee of this commune for consideration, direction of handling according to regulations and reporting the results to the Department.

On the same day, the leader of Van Duc Commune People's Committee said that he had directed the professional department to coordinate with the Board of Directors of An Thanh Secondary School to set up a team to verify the reflection of parents and teachers about Mr. Pham Minh Trung asking many classes to stop mid-lesson to clean up.

Also according to the leader of Van Duc Commune People's Committee, at the conference of cadres and civil servants of An Thanh Secondary School, teachers had opinions related to Mr. Trung's behavior.

“These contents will be transferred to the working group for verification and further clarification. The extent of the violation and the direction of handling will await the verification results from the working group,” he added.

As Dan Tri reported, at around 1:50 p.m. on October 2, when students of classes 8A3 and 9A1 were in their first period, Mr. Pham Minh Trung entered the classroom and asked the teacher to stop the lesson so the students could go out to the yard to clean up.

The reason given by Mr. Trung was that the morning cleaning area of these two classes still had trash and leaves, so it needed to be cleaned up. He asked the teachers of the two classes to make up for the missed class on the morning of October 6, because he believed that the school had the right to adjust the teaching schedule when teachers and students did not meet the requirements to attend class.

Parents also reported that when 6A1 students were studying natural science taught by Ms. Hoang Thi Bich Hanh, Mr. Pham Minh Trung entered the classroom to check the lesson plan and equipment. When he discovered that there was a lack of equipment, Mr. Trung loudly yelled and demanded that Ms. Hanh stop the lesson and go to the office.

Many parents believe that Mr. Trung's act of stopping class and forcing students to sweep the yard in the midday sun is unacceptable, affects the students' right to study, and shows signs of abuse of power and violation of teacher ethics.

According to Mr. Le Van Dung, Principal of An Thanh Secondary School, Mr. Trung asked students to clean the school yard to remind them to strictly follow the cleaning schedule and raise awareness of keeping the school clean. However, asking students to clean during class time has upset parents.

Mr. Dung also admitted that Mr. Pham Minh Trung spoke a bit loudly, sometimes making listeners feel like they were being yelled at, even though he did not insult teachers or students. The school held a meeting to give Mr. Trung some advice so that he could learn from his experience and adjust his behavior to be gentler.
