Before being detained, what business did singer Luong Bang Quang do?

(Dan Tri) - Singer Luong Bang Quang has just been prosecuted and temporarily detained for bribery. He is the owner and major shareholder of two businesses operating in different fields and worth tens of billions of dong.

Based on the collected evidence, on October 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department issued a decision to prosecute Luong Bang Quang and Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan for bribery; and Le Sy Cuong for bribery brokerage. At the same time, they issued an order to temporarily detain Luong Bang Quang and Le Sy Cuong.

Notably, Mr. Luong Bang Quang is the owner and major shareholder of two businesses operating in different fields and with a scale of tens of billions of dong.

Specifically, in February 2024, Mr. Luong Bang Quang and Mr. Ma Tuan Vu established Sugar Group Service Company Limited (Sugar Group) located in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.

The company has 41 registered business lines, of which the main registered business line is short-term accommodation services with details including hotels, tourist villas, tourist apartments, tourist motels, and houses with rooms for tourists to rent. After many changes, Mr. Luong Bang Quang currently holds an ownership ratio equivalent to 20% of the contributed capital.

In addition, according to the National Business Registration Portal, in January 2016, Luong Bang Quang established Luong Bang Quang Joint Stock Company. The company was initially headquartered in Ben Thanh Ward, District 1 (HCMC). Its main business lines are creative, artistic and entertainment activities.

The company also registered other business lines such as restaurants, eateries, beverage services, wholesale of tapes, CDs, DVDs, wholesale of musical instruments, and operation of fitness centers.

The registered charter capital is 1.9 billion VND. Of which, Luong Bang Quang contributed 950 million VND, equivalent to 50% of the charter capital. Vu Do Vy Binh contributed 475 million VND, equivalent to 25% of the charter capital. Ms. Lam Thi Mai (Luong Bang Quang's mother) contributed 475 million VND, equivalent to 25% of the charter capital.

In April 2016, this enterprise changed its business form to Luong Bang Quang Company Limited. In January 2018, the company changed its headquarters to Ward 25, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The enterprise registered for tax with 5 employees.

In the change of business registration content in May 2023, Luong Bang Quang's company changed its main business line to restaurants and mobile food services and 35 other industries.

In February, the company moved its headquarters to Pearl Plaza building, Ward 25, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. By March, the company increased its capital to 10.2 billion VND.

Previously, according to the investigation, Ngan 98 established ZuBu Trading and Service Company Limited and ZuBu Shop business household, putting her biological mother and employees in the name to legalize the operation, but in fact, she managed the entire business and finances herself. The defendant signed a processing contract with companies that produce health protection foods Super Detox X3, X7, X1000 and Collagen vegetable pills of the same type.

When the first factory was discovered to be using banned substances, Ngan 98 switched to Nanotesla Company to continue production, but the two units were actually the same system. Unlicensed packaged products were still sold by Ngan 98 widely through the website, Facebook, TikTok, printing barcodes that directly linked to the shopngan98 page.

All payments are transferred to personal accounts or relatives, then collected to Ngan 98's account. From 2023 to July 2024, she earned about 120 billion VND from this illegal business.

Concluding the appraisal and valuation of the batch of health protection food that violated the law, the authorities determined that the X1000 health protection food product in box form, worth nearly 600 million VND, was counterfeit; 3 Collagen products in package form were counterfeit goods containing the banned substances sibutramine and phenolphthalein, according to the provisions of Clause 3, Decree No. 98 of the Government because the quality ingredient indicators were not correct compared to the product quality declaration table and on the product packaging.

On October 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency prosecuted and temporarily detained Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan for the crime of producing and trading in counterfeit food products, according to Article 193 of the Penal Code.
