
On the evening of October 23, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced its expected enrollment plan for full-time university students in 2026. Accordingly, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will continue to enroll students according to 3 methods: Talent selection method; Selection method based on Thinking Assessment test scores; Selection method based on high school graduation exam scores.
Specifically, with Talent Selection method: Directly recruiting excellent students according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; Selection based on international certificates; Selection based on capacity profile combined with interview.
Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training:
Admission subjects: Candidates graduating from high school in 2026, achieving high results in excellent student exams, Science and Technology competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, specifically as follows:
i) Candidates summoned to participate in the national team selection exam for international and regional Olympic competitions, or who win first, second, or third prizes in the national excellent student selection exam in cultural subjects will be considered for direct admission to the majors appropriate to the subjects in which they won the prize.
ii) Candidates in the National team participating in international science and technology competitions or winning first, second, or third prizes in national science and technology competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training will be directly admitted to the field of study appropriate to the field of the topic they registered for the competition.
Admission based on international certificates :
Admission criteria: Candidates with an average GPA of 8.0 or higher in grades 10, 11, and 12; Have at least one of the following international certificates: SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB. For international certificates with subject component scores evaluated in letter system, the conversion table to scores is as follows:

Selection based on profile and interview:
Admission objects: Candidates graduating from high school in 2026, with an average score of 8.0 or higher in subjects in grades 10, 11 and 12 and meeting one of the following conditions:
i) Selected to participate in the national excellent student exam organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or won First, Second, Third or Encouragement prizes in the excellent student exam at the provincial/municipal level organized by the Departments of Education and Training, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hue University, Hanoi Pedagogical University, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University, Vinh University, Viet Bac High School for the Highlands and granted certificates of achievement in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, Foreign Languages, and Combinations during high school;
ii) Selected to participate in the national science and technology competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training;
iii) Selected to participate in the Road to Olympia contest organized by Vietnam Television from the monthly round or higher;
iv) Specialized students (including Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, Foreign Languages) of high schools and specialized high schools nationwide, specialized classes and specialized systems of universities, national universities, and regional universities.
Regulations on calculating candidates' competency profile scores: Candidates' competency profile scores are calculated as follows (maximum 100 points):
HSNL Points = Thinking Points + Achievement Points + Bonus Points
In which: Thinking score ( maximum 40 points ) : The candidate's thinking score is calculated based on the candidate's Thinking Assessment (TSA) score in 2025 or 2026 and is calculated according to the formula TSA x 40/60.
Thinking score ( maximum 40 points ) : The candidate's thinking score is calculated based on the candidate's Thinking Assessment (TSA) score in 2025 or 2026 and is calculated according to the formula TSA x 40/60.
Achievement score ( maximum 50 points ) : The candidate's achievement score is calculated based on the total score of valid achievements that the candidate has achieved and declared on the system.
Bonus points ( maximum 10 points ) : The candidate's bonus points are calculated for other achievements in study and scientific research that have not been included in the achievement score; Foreign Language Certificate; Awards in culture, arts, physical education and sports (awards in literature - sports - fine arts); Awards for social activities and volunteering for the community that the candidate has validly declared on the system.

With the Admission method based on Thinking Assessment (TSA) scores : Admission subjects are candidates participating in the Thinking Assessment exam organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology;
Admission requirements: Candidates must have graduated from high school and achieved the TSA score threshold set by Hanoi University of Science and Technology (announced later).
With the Admission method based on high school graduation exam scores in 2026, admission subjects: Candidates taking the high school graduation exam in 2026.
Admission requirements: Candidates must have graduated from high school and meet the minimum score set by Hanoi University of Science and Technology (to be announced later);
Keep the same 11 admission combinations and main subjects as previous years including: A00, A01, A02, B00, D01, D04, D07, D26, D28, D29 and K01.
Foreign Language Regulations:
Candidates with VSTEP English certificate or international English certificate (registered for authentication on the system) can convert it into English subject score when applying based on high school graduation exam score (combination A01, D01, D04, D07) and add bonus points when applying by XTTN method (area 1.2, 1.3), applying based on Thinking Assessment test score.
For candidates applying for admission to English-taught programs, FL1 (English for Science, Engineering and Technology), FL3 (Chinese for Science and Technology), in addition to the necessary conditions (according to the admission methods), candidates need to have one of the following conditions regarding English proficiency or equivalent foreign language:
Have a VSTEP English certificate at level B1 or higher; Have an IELTS certificate (academic) of 5.0 or higher or equivalent; Have a high school graduation exam score in 2026 in English of 6.5 or higher.
For candidates applying for international training joint programs including TROY-BA, TROY-IT, FL2 (International Professional English), in addition to the necessary conditions (according to the admission methods), candidates need to have one of the following English proficiency conditions:
Have VSTEP English certificate level B2 or higher; Have IELTS certificate (academic) of 5.5 or higher or equivalent.

About the 2026 Thinking Assessment Exam:
Contestants: High school students, independent candidates
Scope: All provinces and cities nationwide
Exam format: Computer-based objective test
The TSA exam is expected to take place in 3 sessions on Saturdays and Sundays, specifically:
- Phase 1: Exam date 24-25/1/2026; Registration date 5-15/12/2025
- Phase 2: Exam date 14-15/3/2026; Registration date 5-15/2/2026
- Phase 3: Exam date 16-17/5/2026; Registration date 5-15/4/2026
- Exam locations: 11 provinces/cities including Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang.
The following majors can use the Thinking Assessment Test results for university admission: Science, engineering, and technology majors; Economics, foreign trade, finance, and banking majors; Medicine and pharmacy majors; Industry and agriculture majors.
