The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, is 72.75km long, passing through 4 provinces in the Southern Key Economic Zone including Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An . The project is divided into 3 construction packages. In which, the Deo Ca Group consortium implements the XL1 package with a length of 31.15km.
Package XL1 has 6 bridges including Phuoc Hoa Canal, Cay Truong, Ba Tu, Thi Tinh, Suoi Tre and Thanh An. According to the representative of Deo Ca Group, the biggest difficulty of this package is to continue completing the unfinished bridges.
After 12 years, many changes in weather and climate have caused some structural items to be damaged, the steel parts are rusted, damaged and stolen, causing many difficulties in implantation.
Specifically, at Ba Tu Bridge and Thi Tinh Bridge, all the steel parts of the breast wall and the abutment wing walls were stolen. Thanh An Bridge has 2 remaining piles at the T7 pillar in the middle of the river, causing a lot of time and cost to complete.
Currently, 5 out of 6 bridges have completed the bridge deck. The road section has completed the ground foundation. The road surface foundation has reached 30/31.15km and the asphalt concrete layer has reached about 21/31.15km.
The project is striving to complete 4 months ahead of schedule and will be open to traffic on April 30. However, site clearance is still stuck at some points that have not been handed over.
Specifically, Bau Bang district ( Binh Duong ) has 3 remaining locations, including 1 household on the route at Km 11+641 - 11+681 and the DT750 and DH614 intersections, 10 locations with technical infrastructure works that have not been relocated. Dau Tieng district has 2 remaining locations of households and 5 rubber garden locations at the intersections, 7 locations with technical infrastructure works that have not been relocated.
The contractor representative informed that the site clearance for the project has been going on for more than 12 years and has yet to be resolved. The delay in site handover has greatly affected the construction progress and project completion plan.
Ho Chi Minh Road, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section is invested to connect Ho Chi Minh Road from Pac Bo, Cao Bang province to Dat Mui, Ca Mau province, contributing to sharing traffic flow with the vertical axes of the Southeast region.
This project started in 2009, however, in 2011, the project was suspended according to Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP (dated February 24, 2011) of the Government and Directive No. 1792/CT-TTg (dated October 15, 2011) of the Prime Minister.
After 12 years of suspension, in November 2023, the project was restarted to continue completing unfinished construction items, avoiding wasting invested state capital, contributing to connecting the entire Ho Chi Minh route.
