After half a month of construction, Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the Year of the Dragon 2024 is basically completed. The 21st flower street has the theme of Spring of love, Tet reunion , about 700 m long.
The highlight is the pair of dragon mascots at the beginning of Nguyen Hue Street, near the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The pair of dragons named Luong Long Trieu Lien has been completed, winding and intertwining, symmetrically on the flower street, creating a highlight for visitors.
Each dragon is about 120 meters long, setting a record for the size of the mascots that have appeared on the flower street over the past 21 years. The colorful dragon bodies, intertwined with each other, are more than 10 meters high, creating a beautifully decorated ceiling.
At the end of the flower street is a dragon in the grand Thang Long landscape with an area of over 1,000 m2, winding around. More than 90% of the mascot's materials are made from bamboo and bamboo fan blinds, environmentally friendly.
According to the designer, the dragon mascot is a combination of dragon characteristics of the Ly, Tran, and Nguyen dynasties, expressed in the appearance of the head always facing up, a big nose, a round nose tip, bulging eyes, a mouth holding a pearl, and a large mane on the cheeks and head. The body winding in a sinusoidal shape in the direction of flight is a common feature in the image of dragons of the Ly and Tran dynasties, the shape of the tail spreading like a flame is a characteristic of the dragon of the Nguyen dynasty.
Throughout the flower street is the image of a large spring flower dragon boat scene with an area of up to 900 m2, giving visitors the impression of going on the river with a dragon boat and admiring the flowers and leaves on both sides.
This year’s flower street features 99 varieties of flowers with more than 90,000 flower baskets. The flower decoration follows three main colors: red, orange, and yellow.
A gold-plated Bodhi tree is displayed on the flower street. According to the organizers, more than 70% of the materials used in the paving of the flower street are environmentally friendly bamboo.
At noon on February 6 (December 27), one day before the opening ceremony, hundreds of workers were busy completing the final stages such as connecting electricity, decorating with flowers, cleaning, watering...
"This is the 15th year I have participated in the construction of the flower street. This year's project is very impressive with the magnificent dragon mascots," said Mr. Tran Ngan Tuan, 50 years old.
