On the afternoon of December 25, the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to put up a plaque to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Party Committee of Vietnam Railways Corporation (April 6, 1955 - April 6, 2025). This is a project to upgrade and renovate 11 high-quality passenger cars (AnL28) implemented by the Saigon Cargo Branch.
The project started on September 1, 2024 with 125 workers participating. The interior and exterior of the carriages are designed with many improvements. The carriage walls are painted in white, gray and blue with the main image being the crane on the Dong Son bronze drum, a symbol associated with Vietnamese culture.
According to the leaders of the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, due to the large volume of work and the short time required, the construction unit has combined periodic repairs, changed the structure of the car body and rearranged the entire floor, while also renewing the air ducts and distributing cold air to the cars. To ensure progress, the leaders of the units have encouraged workers to organize overtime, working extra hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Sy Manh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Railways Corporation, praised and congratulated the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company and the construction unit for their efforts to complete the project on schedule to serve passengers during the Lunar New Year. The upgraded carriages are of high quality and have great significance because they are a project to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Party Committee of Vietnam Railways Corporation.
Mr. Dang Sy Manh added that over the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Party Committee of the Corporation, the Railway industry has had many historical milestones, going from one success to another. Thanks to the efforts and solidarity of the workers, the industry has had many good products serving society. These efforts need to be promoted and innovated. Mr. Dang Sy Manh affirmed that in order for the Railway industry to continue to have remarkable developments, the cadres, workers, employees and laborers of the entire industry need to be proud of the past, affirm the present, think deeply, do great things and be worthy of the future...
Information about the new carriage:
The sleeper cars are luxuriously designed and cozy. Each bed has a reading light, a built-in USB phone charger, and is equipped with a brand new mattress, blanket, sheet, pillow, and curtains. The doors on the cars are equipped with automatic locking devices to reduce vibration during train travel.
In addition, the soft seat car has 56 seats with seats that can rotate 180°. Therefore, passengers can comfortably adjust their seating direction to suit their needs, no longer having to worry about motion sickness due to sitting in the opposite direction when the train is running.
The air conditioning system is also improved from the hood air duct system that evenly distributes cold air to the rooms, replacing cold exhaust vents with spherical eye cold exhaust vents that can independently adjust the direction and amount of cold air; providing cold air directly to the hallway.
The ceilings and walls of the train cars are made of new composite; the restroom area is larger, integrated with a water discharge system with an anaerobic biological treatment system; the washing room area is supplied with direct cold air, sensor-lit mirrors, hand dryers...
The electrical system is also upgraded with new equipment such as high-quality speakers, decorative lights, modern reading lights. The tables, train regulations - train arrival times - regulations on passenger transportation, train menus... are integrated and displayed on LCD screens at both ends of the train cars...
The train cars all have paintings and art photos of the country's natural landscapes and architecture of each region the train passes through...
