Although Cam Giang commune was established on the basis of merging four highland communes: Nguyen Phuc, Cam Giang, My Thanh and Quan Ha; however, all four health stations of the four communes mentioned above continue to operate in their previous locations, helping people conveniently access basic health services without having to travel far, especially the elderly or patients with chronic diseases.
From July 2025, when the two-level local government model officially comes into operation, the merger of commune-level administrative boundaries in the province will not affect people's access to health services; thanks to the proactive and close coordination between the health sector and local authorities in reviewing human resources, management areas as well as coordinating facilities, essential services such as vaccination, non-communicable disease management, maternal and child health care, etc. are maintained.
Doctor Ly Thi Vang, Deputy Head of Cam Giang Commune Health Station, said: People can rest assured because the station is still nearby, the medical staff is familiar, the medical examination and treatment work is still well maintained; the health insurance drugs provided by Bach Thong Medical Center are sufficient for the treatment of common diseases. Similarly, the operation of the grassroots health network in the central urban area or the south of the province is still stable in terms of organization and human resources, ensuring the operation of modern technology for medical examination and treatment.
For example, Quyet Thang Ward Health Station has proactively used existing facilities while promoting the application of digital technology in medical examination and treatment management. According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Quyet Thang Ward Health Station, the station has prepared in advance, especially in implementing digital transformation. Therefore, medical examination and treatment at the Ward Health Station is better performed thanks to the electronic medical record management system, synchronized outpatient patient data and drug dispensing.
Pursuant to Circular No. 20/2025/TT-BYT dated June 23, 2025 of the Ministry of Health guiding the functions, tasks and powers of specialized health agencies under the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities and the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones of provinces and centrally run cities, Thai Nguyen province maintains the status of health stations and stabilizes the operation of the grassroots health network at 280 commune-level health stations.
These stations are operated, supported, and professionally directed by 17 regional health centers (formerly district-level health centers); this is a public service unit under the Department of Health, responsible for coordinating and professionally managing the area.
According to Deputy Director of Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health Hoang Hai, the viewpoint of Thai Nguyen health sector is not to interrupt the implementation of preventive medicine work, public health care activities, specifically from vaccination, disease prevention and control to medical examination, treatment, primary health care and providing health insurance drugs for chronic patients; all must be carried out smoothly and effectively.
Maintaining a grassroots health network suitable to local conditions, effectively using existing facilities and grassroots health human resources, while promoting the application of technology and digital transformation... not only helps people maintain their rights to medical examination and treatment but is also an important step in the roadmap to build a modern, synchronous and interconnected grassroots health system for community health in Thai Nguyen province.
