According to VNA correspondent in Brussels, on June 14 and 15, the European Union (EU) held the 7th Brussels Conference on assistance for the future of Syria and countries in the region.

The conference will once again provide a platform to reiterate the continued support of the EU and the international community to the Syrian people, Syrian refugees and host communities.
The conference is expected to be the main engagement event for Syria and the region this year, allowing the international community to renew efforts towards a political solution to the conflict, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
On the first day of the conference, called “Dialogue Day”, the EU and other actors and partners working on the response to the Syrian crisis held discussions with civil society actors in Syria, the region, the diaspora and refugee-hosting countries, with the aim of strengthening the international community’s political support for these essential actors.
On 15 June, a ministerial conference will bring together state actors, including EU member states, Syria’s neighbours and third countries, as well as representatives of the United Nations and other international organisations, to discuss ways to increase humanitarian, financial and political support for the Syrian people. The meeting will conclude with the announcement of this year’s contribution.
Since 2011, the EU and its Member States have been the main donors of humanitarian and resilience aid to Syria and the region, mobilising more than €30 billion to respond to the Syrian crisis.
The EU will continue to mobilize all available tools to help the Syrian people reach a credible and negotiated political solution, and help create the conditions for a better future for all Syrians.
