Twelve years after the shocking racism scandal that rocked the Premier League, Patrice Evra suddenly announced that he wanted to "settle the score" with Luis Suarez with an MMA match.

On social network X on April 25, Evra announced that he will compete in MMA for the first time in an exhibition match at the Professional Fighters League (PFL) event in Paris, France on May 23. The post also included a challenge to Suarez.

Evra recently revealed more information on journalist Ariel Helwani's podcast, that he told PFL that the opponent he most wanted was Suarez, who was accused by the FA of using racist words towards Evra during the 1-1 draw between Man United and Liverpool in 2011.

The former French star insists he has "no grudge" against Suarez, but Evra says the world deserves to see the two men fight in their new roles in the ring, pleading, "Please, accept."

Evra is training to prepare for his PFL debut

"I don't know if it will be the first, second or third match, but I believe the whole world deserves to see it" - Evra expressed.

When asked about the possibility of the fight happening, Evra brought positive news to MMA fans: "I was quite surprised, because I don't know if it's true, but I heard that Suarez's agent contacted PFL, maybe to see my debut.

I was surprised, because he is still playing football (for Inter Miami), and this is a completely different sport and can cause injuries. But maybe it will happen, maybe it won't. For me, if it doesn't happen, it's okay, but I still want that game."

Evra also humorously declared that he was willing to pay out of pocket to fight Suarez and expressed "He might even bite me!".

This is considered Evra's sarcastic remark aimed at Suarez's scandalous past, who has bitten opponents three times while playing for Ajax, Liverpool and the Uruguay national team. Specifically, Suarez's famous scandal first happened with Otman Bakkal (PSV) while playing for Ajax, in 2009. The next two times were playing for Liverpool in 2013, Suarez became famous for biting Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea) and Italian center-back Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup.

Evra, now 43, has been training in MMA since 2016 and has received support from both PFL star Cedric Doumbe and UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Although it is uncertain whether the match will become a reality, if it does happen, this promises to be one of the most remarkable matches between football and martial arts.

Currently, the former Man United star is training to prepare for his debut in a mixed martial arts tournament on May 23.
