Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), a company specializing in restoring classic supercars as well as taking on projects to transform classic supercars into modern supercars, has its latest project 273 Potenza, an eye-catching custom creation inspired by Ferrari's iconic 288 GTO, but the body is the Ferrari F8 Tributo. MAT is the team behind the impressive Lancia Stratos revival project, which also combines heritage with modern engineering. Although MAT’s Ferrari version was first introduced a few years ago, the one-off car has yet to receive the recognition it deserves.
To many, the F8 Tributo already looked great, and arguably better than the 296 GTB that replaced it. Remarkably, Manifattura Automobili Torino, in collaboration with ZeroACento Automobili, somehow managed to make the F8 look even better. Starting with the body, which now features all-new panels made from ultra-light carbon fiber in a captivating red hue, a detail often seen on supercar manufacturers like Pagani and Koenigsegg. Up front, the 273 Potenza is all new. The car has four square LED daytime running lights on the new front bumper, a specially designed hood with large air intakes. The beautiful five-spoke star-shaped wheels with red center locks add to the classic look of the car.
Incredibly, the rear end can be even more beautiful than the front. The familiar F8 Tributo taillights are still there, but now they’ve been modified with a dark red carbon fiber engine cover, side skirts, diffuser, and bumpers. There’s even a lightweight titanium exhaust. The Ferrari's interior has also seen a number of changes. The most obvious upgrade is the completely redesigned transmission, which now includes a new shifter. The dashboard has also been tweaked to look more like that of the 288 GTO, and now even includes unique HVAC controls. Performance hasn't been overlooked either. The car's 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 has been upgraded to produce more than 800 horsepower.
It fits perfectly with the dramatic styling of the design, and while one might wonder how Ferrari would handle a full-fledged version of the 288 GTO, it's hard to imagine it would be any better than this. Video : Ferrari 288 GTO "resurrected" super unique.
