This year, the 2023 Paragliding Festival event "Flying over the scenic area of Mu Cang Chai" was officially launched in early September with the focus on festival activities taking place from September 15-18.
During the festival, visitors can experience the terraced fields from above by paragliding or ultralight aircraft. With paragliding, visitors will fly with a professional pilot, departing from the top of the mountain, taking advantage of the wind and hot air currents to gain altitude and move. With ultralight aircraft, the pilot uses the engine to take off gently, regardless of wind or terrain, without the need to run or gain altitude.

The highlight of this year's Paragliding Festival is the Mebayluon Open Precision Landing Cup, with the largest scale and prize value ever.
The tournament brings together more than 100 professional paraglider pilots from many different countries, competing in the categories: individual men, individual women and teams. The pilots will take off from Khau Pha pass and land in Lim Mong village. The decisive factor in determining the winner is the accuracy and technical mastery of the players. The large number of participants, with diverse nationalities, further increases the competition and attractiveness of the competition.
Another highlight of this year’s event is the paragliding performances from an altitude of over 3,000m and the skydiving performance from Thai athletes. Besides the golden color of the rice fields, Mu Cang Chai is also adorned with brilliant colors from paragliders. The performing pilots are all leading experts in the region, sure to bring unforgettable impressions to visitors.

Besides paragliding activities, visitors to Mu Cang Chai this time also have the opportunity to experience unique local culture such as learning how to make young rice of ethnic minorities, soaking their feet in medicinal leaves, wading through streams to watch the sunset in the afternoon...
Mr. Dang Van My - the paragliding pilot with the most flying hours in Vietnam, and also the director of the event organizer said: “We always try to make the Mu Cang Chai paragliding festival return to a larger and more spectacular scale each year. To prepare for this year's festival season, we have just completed a number of construction projects to make the Mu Cang Chai flying site as professional as international competition flying sites. I believe that tourists who love experiences, adventure and love the sky will see many differences when they return to Mu Cang Chai. I hope to contribute to making Mu Cang Chai a tourist destination that attracts visitors all year round, not just during the rice harvest season.”
