Every day, the traffic volume and people passing through National Highway 61, from Long Thanh Commune to Dinh Hoa Commune is quite high. For many months now, local people have reported that the road surface has been peeling off, with numerous potholes appearing, making travel difficult and posing a potential risk to traffic safety. During the rainy season, water stagnates in deep holes, making the road damage even more serious. Mr. VVK - a driver who regularly travels this route said: "I cannot imagine the road being damaged to this extent. Every time I drive, I have to drive very slowly, checking each section, afraid of collapsing into a hole and causing an accident. I hope the authorities will soon repair the road to ensure the safety of the people."

A section of National Highway 61 through Dinh An commune is seriously degraded, making it difficult for vehicles to move through.

Pointing to a pothole in front of his house, Mr. DTT, a resident living next to Highway 61, said: “The other day, it rained heavily and a couple from another province fell off their motorbike. Luckily, they were not seriously injured. When it is sunny, the dust is thick, and when it rains, the road surface becomes waterlogged, creating large puddles. At night, strangers who are not familiar with the road can’t avoid the potholes and fall off their motorbikes. The worst part is the children going to school. Although there have been no serious accidents, this road’s deterioration has greatly affected our lives.”

To warn passersby, many households living along the road used trees and foam boxes to cover the damaged areas, and some even brought rocks to temporarily fill them. However, just a few days later, the road surface was damaged again.

Mr. NHG, a resident of Vinh Tuy commune, is an ambulance driver and said: “The ambulance carrying the patient is constantly shaking, sometimes because the vehicle is moving slowly, affecting the emergency. I and the people hope that the road will soon be repaired and smoothed so that traveling is safer and more convenient.”

Chairman of the People's Committee of Dinh Hoa Commune, Ngo Thanh Hung, said that National Highway 61, the section from Ben Nhut Bridge to Rach Tia Bridge, has seriously degraded, and people have repeatedly reported it. "This is an important national highway, connecting communes and provinces in the region. The People's Committee of the commune has sent a document to the competent authorities, requesting solutions. Currently, the functional units are carrying out temporary repairs and patching potholes to minimize difficulties for the people," Mr. Ngo Thanh Hung informed.

To ensure traffic safety and meet the needs of socio -economic development, urgent and synchronous participation from relevant levels and sectors is needed. Local people are looking forward to the above road being repaired and upgraded soon, so that vehicles no longer have to crawl over potholes, students can go to school, and patients can go to hospital safely and quickly.
