Dialogue with officials and farmers' union members of Cu Lao Gieng commune

On the afternoon of October 14, the Standing Committee of the Farmers' Association of Cu Lao Gieng commune (An Giang province) organized a dialogue conference between the Party Committee, the government and cadres and farmer members with the topic "Cu Lao Gieng farmers join hands to develop agriculture associated with tourism development".

At the conference, officials and members of the farmers' association of Cu Lao Gieng commune raised a number of issues such as what measures does the local government have to support farmers in expanding agricultural production models according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards, and organic orientation to ensure local agricultural output and for people to participate in tourism development activities. In addition, supporting farmers in stably consuming agricultural products and developing agriculture associated with tourism development, supporting people to work as homestays, tour guides, serving food, selling OCOP products...

Farmers hope that local authorities will establish more cooperatives and new cooperative groups linking businesses and farmers, linking production and product consumption with tourism . Farmers recommend that localities have plans to invest in and upgrade irrigation systems and intra-field traffic in some areas to serve agricultural production.

Concluding the dialogue, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Cu Lao Gieng Commune, Vo Minh Nang, requested the Commune Farmers' Association to synthesize opinions, reports, and classify the authorities of all levels to submit to the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee to propose to higher levels for resolution; thereby promptly removing difficulties and obstacles and having appropriate mechanisms to promote socio -economic development and tourism of Cu Lao Gieng in the coming time.
