Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh returns to the coaching bench of HAGL Club
After completing his 4-match suspension (due to his conflict with the referee in the match between HAGL and Ha Tinh in round 19), Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh will return to the HAGL Club's coaching cabin in this round, when the mountain town team welcomes Da Nang Club at home ground Pleiku, at 5:00 p.m. on May 23 in the early match of round 24 of the V-League.
In the 4 matches that Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh was absent, HAGL won 2, drew 2, and earned 6 out of a total of 12 maximum points. Tran Minh Vuong and his teammates won against Hai Phong (1-0) and The Cong Viettel (2-1) at home, and lost to Binh Dinh (1-2) and Nam Dinh (1-6) away.

Notably, HAGL had previously experienced a series of crisis matches (winning only 1 out of 8 matches) leading to falling close to the danger zone. However, the 2 most recent home wins brought coach Le Quang Trai and his team closer to the safety zone.
With the return of Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh, HAGL will have another "brain" in the command area, in order to deal with and respond more flexibly to match situations. In fact, although not directly working with Coach Le Quang Trai in the training area in the past 4 matches, Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh still, together with the coaching staff, directs HAGL players in training sessions to practice defensive counter-attacks, high balls...
Despite just losing heavily to Nam Dinh Club, overall, HAGL still achieved their goal on the journey to stay in the league, which is to make the most of home field advantage (winning 3 out of the last 4 matches in Pleiku) to accumulate points.
Extremely 'hot' match
In 4 days, HAGL will meet the bottom team Da Nang. While HAGL has 27 points (ranked 8th), Da Nang Club is at the bottom of the table with 20 points.
If they take all 3 points, there is a 99% chance that HAGL will stay in the league 2 rounds early. The reason is that coach Le Quang Trai and his team will be 10 points ahead of Da Nang Club and Binh Dinh Club (playing 1 more match than Binh Dinh). This is a very safe distance when the season is coming to the end.
Even if they only draw with Da Nang FC, HAGL will maintain a 7-point gap with their opponents and will certainly escape direct relegation. As for the play-off spot, unless Binh Dinh, SLNA and Quang Nam... win continuously, it will be very difficult for these teams to simultaneously have more than 27 points to surpass HAGL.
HAGL (orange shirt) is not subjective
The mountain town team is in a relatively safe position. However, Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh and his students still need at least 1 more point to feel secure.
Winning points against Da Nang FC is not an easy goal. In the first leg, Da Nang FC, despite being at the bottom of the table, still played better and won 1 point against HAGL. At the moment, Coach Le Duc Tuan's team is on an impressive run of form, defeating Thanh Hoa, Binh Dinh and Quang Nam, winning 9 points in the last 4 matches.
Da Nang Club has seen a "way to live" when it has leveled the gap with Binh Dinh's play-off position (still ranked below due to poor goal difference).
With high spirit and morale, Da Nang FC will continue to fight to the end at Pleiku Stadium to win every point. Facing opponents in a corner has never been an easy challenge for V-League teams, even very strong teams like Hanoi Police Club or Viettel The Cong Club. Not to mention the young HAGL team, which rarely maintains stability for more than 3 or 4 matches.
The mind game in Pleiku on the afternoon of May 23 in round 24 will be worth watching!
