Coffee prices in Vietnam continued to rise from last week as Vietnamese and Indonesian farmers were reluctant to sell in anticipation of further price increases, Reuters reported. "Farmers are reluctant to sell now as they hope prices will surpass VND100,000 per kilogram," a trader in Dak Lak said.
Traders said trading activity has been slow as many have switched to importing coffee from Indonesia and Brazil, which offer more competitive prices. However, one trader predicted: "The harvest in Vietnam will start in October, so farmers are unlikely to hold onto their stocks for too long."
World coffee prices today
On the London exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed last week at $3,228/ton, down 3.6% ($121/ton) from the previous week. The November 2025 futures contract fell 3.7% ($124/ton) to $3,196/ton.
On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery decreased by 2% (6.1 US cents/pound) last week, down to 297.55 US cents/pound. The November 2025 futures contract decreased by 1.9% (5.5 US cents/pound), down to 290.45 US cents/pound.
Prices for both robusta and arabica coffee continued to fall this week, weighed down by ample supplies as Brazil speeds up its harvest. Robusta futures for September delivery fell to a 14-month low, with the benchmark at risk of falling below $3,000 a tonne.
According to a report from Safras & Mercado, as of July 23, Brazil had harvested about 84% of its 2025/26 coffee crop, up from 81% in the same period last year and exceeding the five-year average (77%). Of which, Robusta reached 96% and Arabica reached 76% of the output.
Another factor weighing on robusta prices is that ICE-tracked inventories have risen to a one-year high of 6,882 lots (68,820 tonnes), while arabica inventories have fallen to a three-month low of 802,678 bags. This disparity puts even more pressure on robusta prices than arabica.
