Domestic market
Domestic retail gas prices in August continued to decrease for the third consecutive month following the trend of world gas prices. Specifically, the retail price of Petrolimex gas cylinders (including VAT) in August 2025 in the Hanoi market was VND 416,100/12kg household cylinder; VND 1,664,100/48kg industrial cylinder, down VND 18,100/12kg cylinder and VND 72,600/48kg cylinder (including VAT), respectively.
Since the beginning of the year, gas prices have decreased 5 times and remained unchanged 3 times.
The continued decrease in gas prices is considered a positive signal in the context of the cost of living still being a major concern for people. Not only does this help reduce financial pressure on households, this price reduction also creates favorable conditions for businesses to balance production and operating costs.
A representative of Petrolimex Gas Corporation said that the reason for the continued decrease in retail gas prices in August was because the average world gas price contract in August was at 505 USD/ton, a decrease of 55 USD/ton compared to July, so Petrolimex Gas Corporation adjusted the decrease accordingly.
To use gas effectively and economically, individual consumers should regularly check for gas line leaks. In addition, using energy-saving (high-efficiency) stoves can reduce gas consumption by 8%. In addition, cleaning the stove grate and burner every week as well as keeping the bottom of the pot flat and of suitable diameter are also the most effective ways to use gas.
For restaurants, hotels, and manufacturing facilities, signing a fixed-price contract for 1 to 3 months as soon as the price drops is also a way to save costs. In addition, service businesses should optimize the industrial kitchen layout to distribute heat evenly. In addition, ordering large batches at once to reduce delivery costs also helps save costs.
