Highest price of live pigs is 58,000 VND/kg

The price of live pigs in the North decreased by 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg last week, fluctuating between 56,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the North decreased by 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg last week.

Of which, Yen Bai province reduced 2,000 VND/kg to 56,000 VND/kg - the lowest among the localities.

After decreasing by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg, localities including Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh and Hanoi all traded at 58,000 VND/kg.

57,000 VND/kg is the purchase price recorded in the remaining localities, down 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 56,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.

* The live pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg last week.

Dak Lak province reduced the price to 55,000 VND/kg - equal to Binh Dinh.

After decreasing by 1,000 VND/kg and 2,000 VND/kg, 56,000 VND/kg is the purchase price recorded in Binh Thuan and Ha Tinh.

Live pigs in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An were purchased at VND57,000/kg, down VND1,000/kg. The remaining localities did not record any new fluctuations last week.

Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 55,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the South fluctuate inconsistently by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

Of which, Long An province raised the price to 57,000 VND/kg - equal to Kien Giang after reducing 1,000 VND/kg.

At the same time of survey, Ho Chi Minh City traded at 55,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

After a decrease of 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg, live pigs in Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang were purchased at 56,000 VND/kg.

After a price reduction, Ca Mau province purchased at 58,000 VND/kg - equal to Bac Lieu. The remaining localities had stable transactions.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today is around 55,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.

* The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecasts that China's demand for pork will increase sharply, which could cause both the country's pork production and imports to increase in 2023.

Specifically, in 2023, China is expected to produce about 55.5 million tons of pork, up 0.2% compared to 2022. Import volume is expected to increase by 3.5%, reaching 2.2 million tons in 2023.

China's pork imports continued to increase in the first 7 months of 2023. According to data from the China Customs Administration, in the first 7 months of 2023, China imported 1.05 million tons of pork (HS 0203), worth 2.49 billion USD, up 14.6% in volume and 35.1% in value over the same period in 2022.

The largest pork suppliers to China in the first 7 months of 2023 include: Spain, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the United States, the Netherlands... Notably, the amount of pork imported by China from these markets all increased significantly compared to the same period in 2022.

Of which, Spain is the largest market supplying pork to China, accounting for 25.17% of China's total pork imports in the first 7 months of 2023, with 265.25 thousand tons, worth 635.47 million USD, up 1.5% in volume and 14.4% in value over the same period in 2022.
