Long Son Pagoda (also known as White Buddha Pagoda) is located on October 23rd Street, Nha Trang City. Built in 1886, the pagoda at the foot of Trai Thuy Hill has undergone many renovations, now covering a total area of over 3,000m2.

The pagoda is also the place where many major activities of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Khanh Hoa province take place.

The main hall of the pagoda is more than 1,500 square meters wide, with a bronze statue of Buddha sitting and preaching. The statue is 1.6 meters high and weighs 700 kg.

The pagoda has a strong Asian architecture, surrounded by green trees. This place is considered one of the spiritual destinations that attracts many people of Khanh Hoa and tourists from all over.

Ms. Nguyen Minh Thu (a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City) shared that when she entered the temple, she felt the quiet space. Along with the cool wind and beautiful scenery, she felt like she left all her fatigue and worries behind.

The temple has attractions but to get here, people have to go through a long road, which has been built with steps for convenient travel.

At the 44th step, visitors to the temple can see the 17m long, 5m high statue of Buddha entering Nirvana, built in 2003. Behind the statue is a relief carving of 49 disciples chanting Buddha's name, creating a solemn space full of meditation.

The special feature of Long Son Pagoda is that on the top of Trai Thuy hill, there is a statue of the Golden Body Buddha (white Buddha statue) sitting and preaching, 24m high, built in 1963.

The Vietnam Guinness Book of Records once recognized this as the largest outdoor Buddha statue in Vietnam. To reach the statue, people have to climb 193 steps.

When it was first built, the Buddha statue at the pagoda was one of the largest in the Central region. Passengers traveling by rail or road could see the majestic statue on the top of the hill.

"This is a way to show patience and the desire to set foot in a peaceful place of humanity" - Ms. Tran Thi Quang shared when visiting the temple.

The lotus platform with the statue of the Golden Buddha also has portraits of monk Thich Quang Duc and six other monks who burned themselves to death to protest the suppression of Buddhism by Ngo Dinh Diem in 1963.

Behind the statue of Buddha is the entrance, on both sides of the door are carved statues of two guardian gods.

The photo shows the space inside a small lotus platform, surrounded by many Buddha statues. This project was built after 1975, when the Golden Buddha statue was completed.

From the top of the hill, visitors can also see the whole view of Nha Trang city. The peaceful landscape, spiritual space and ancient architecture make this place an indispensable stop on the journey to discover the land of Agarwood.
