At the end of February this year, the Tang Long Bridge project on La Xuan Oai Street, Truong Thanh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City officially opened a branch (left branch) to serve the travel needs of the people. However, after several months of serving traffic, the road surface leading to this bridge branch showed signs of localized rutting.

Tang Long Bridge, Thu Duc city has just completed one branch so there is only one fixed slope, the remaining branch is under construction so temporary rock cages must be used to replace the slope, leading to rutting in the approach road area.

However, recently, people have reported that the road surface has local subsidence, the bridge abutment has cracks, the concrete is peeling, affecting the aesthetics and posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) confirmed the subsidence with an area of ​​about 49 square meters of cracks at the expansion joint at the bridge head.

The cause was determined to be due to the temporary structure during the construction of one side of the bridge branch, when the retaining wall system on both sides of the approach road could not be fully built. This phenomenon was anticipated by the construction unit and the supervision consultant, and did not affect the structure of the project.

Previously, the road at the bridgehead on D2 road had a rutted section with a total area of ​​49 square meters.

Since the evening of May 18, the repair work has been deployed. The construction unit has reinforced the road shoulder, scraped off the old asphalt layer, checked the gravel base, compensated for the displaced rock and re-paved the asphalt layer on the road surface.

The crack location is treated by cutting the concrete edge straight, removing excess and refinishing the surface to ensure aesthetics.

The Traffic Department said it will continue to monitor and supervise the approach road area during the construction of the remaining branch to promptly handle any problems that arise, ensuring safety and quality of the project.

It is expected that the entire Tang Long Bridge in Thu Duc City will be completed and officially opened to traffic before Lunar New Year 2026.
