16th National Architecture Awards: Honoring 53 works

On the evening of May 20, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Construction, and the Vietnam Association of Architects held the 16th National Architecture Awards Ceremony (2024 - 2025). President Luong Cuong sent a congratulatory flower basket.

The National Architecture Award is an award organized every two years by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Construction , and the Vietnam Association of Architects to promote creativity, honor authors and outstanding architectural works nationwide, contribute to the development of Vietnamese architecture and raise public awareness of the art of architecture.

This year, the Award received 239 entries, including 88 entries in the Housing category; 65 entries in the Public Works category; 8 entries in the Industrial Architecture, Heritage Conservation and Adaptation category; 27 entries in the Interior and Exterior Architecture category; 9 entries in the Landscape Architecture category; 29 entries in the Planning category; 13 entries in the Publications category; and 13 entries in the Architectural Research and Criticism category.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the quality of the works awarded at this year's National Architecture Awards, emphasizing that the honored works are not only the crystallization of talent and dedication, but also demonstrate the profound responsibility of the architects towards society, the environment and the sustainable future of the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the Vietnam Association of Architects and architects nationwide continue to participate more actively, deeply and effectively in policy consultation, especially in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of planning, architecture and urban management, focusing on promoting the development of green and sustainable architecture, using environmentally friendly materials and renewable energy; contributing intelligence to urban planning and social housing development, proposing solutions to reduce construction costs, ensuring that all people have the opportunity to live in safe, comfortable and humane spaces.

“The Government is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for the development of unique and modern Vietnamese architecture, through transparent policies, encouraging innovation, and strongly supporting the application of science and technology in architecture,” the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 53 outstanding works, including 1 Grand Prize, 5 Gold Prizes, 12 Silver Prizes, and 35 Bronze Prizes. Of which, the Grand Prize in the public architecture category belonged to the Vietnam Military History Museum.

Along with that is the award for the work most loved and voted by the community, Certificate of Merit for the unit with many achievements and the Award "For the Development of Architecture".
