The commemorative photo album of Ms. Thu Phuong (30 years old, Lao Cai) during her first visit to Ha Giang received many compliments for the meticulous investment in each frame. The short trip to the mountainous region of the female tourist was carefully recorded by her husband with impressive footage, from the costumes, accessories to the majestic, vast natural scenery. Having come up with the idea for the photo series a few months in advance, Phuong and her husband prepared each scene themselves. The female tourist was in charge of designing costumes, doing makeup, and acting as a stylist, while her husband was in charge of taking photos, controlling the scene and lighting. However, because they both work in the art field, they always put their all into this photo series. Photo: Tran So
Ms. Thu Phuong said: "I prioritize clothes with a handmade feel, materials close to nature such as linen, hemp... with brocade motifs, or clothes reminiscent of highland culture. There are a few items inspired by H'Mong ethnic costumes, but combined in a more free spirit." Photo: Tran Son
This outfit was redesigned by Ms. Phuong based on the completely handmade material of the H'Mong people. The prominent green shirt is delicately hand-embroidered according to the traditional craft techniques of the H'Mong people in Sa Pa, the remaining details on the shirt are made from vegetable-dyed linen, bearing the cultural mark and sustainability of ethnic fashion . Completed in 2 days, the photo series was mainly taken at famous tourist destinations in Dong Van district such as the Meo King Palace, Lung Cu Flagpole and surrounding villages. The female tourist couple also did not miss the beautiful scenery along the way. Photo: Tran Son
A female tourist takes a souvenir photo at the Meo King's Palace (also known as the King's Palace) in Sa Phin Commune, Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province. This is a unique structure that harmoniously combines three architectural styles: Chinese, French, and stone-laying techniques associated with the culture of the indigenous H'Mong people. Although they had to work continuously during the trip, the couple always made sure to spend time playing and exploring with their children during the trip. Ms. Thu Phuong recalled: "What I remember most is the moment when the whole family played together by the stream. Seeing my children laugh, experiencing and immersing themselves in nature, that's what I wanted when I came to Ha Giang this time." Photo: Tran Son
