VHO - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a document agreeing with the proposal of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province on preparing a dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and ranking Dien Khanh Citadel as a special national relic.
Accordingly, the Dien Khanh Citadel site was built in the late 18th century in the Vauban military style. Realizing its strategic location, in 1793 Nguyen Anh (later King Gia Long) ordered the construction of the Citadel in the territory of two communes, Phu My and Truong Thanh, Phuoc Dien district, Dien Khanh prefecture, Binh Khang palace; assigned Nguyen Van Thanh to guard it.
This used to be an important administrative-military center of the South Central region. After 1975, Dien Khanh Citadel became the headquarters of Dien Khanh district's administrative agencies. Currently, in the Citadel area are the headquarters of Dien Khanh district's agencies such as: Dien Khanh District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Dien Khanh district,... schools: Dien Khanh Town Primary School, Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School.
Dien Khanh Citadel is an important historical site, reflecting the development of Vietnamese history and culture, especially in the late 18th century when it was the military and administrative center of Khanh Hoa. The site is not only a testament to historical events but also a symbol of a period of strong local development.
Previously, in Decision No. 1288-VH/QD dated November 16, 1988, Dien Khanh Citadel was recognized as a National Monument. Currently, Khanh Hoa province is restoring the relic according to Resolution No. 06/NQ-HDND dated April 7, 2022 of the Provincial People's Council on the investment policy of the Project to restore and embellish the Dien Khanh Citadel relic, with the aim of preserving and developing the economy , tourism, raising public awareness and promoting sustainable development of the locality.
In the document sent to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed with the proposal of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province on preparing a dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and ranking of Dien Khanh Citadel as a special national relic; regarding the name of the relic, the Ministry proposed to study the name: Dien Khanh Citadel, the composition and format of the dossier according to the provisions in Circular No. 09/2011/TT-BVHTTDL and Circular No. 18/2022/TT-BVHTTDL of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
