Nam Dinh: Protecting, promoting and enriching the value of cultural heritage

Nam Dinh province has more than 1,360 relics, including 3 special national relics; 88 national relics; 340 provincial relics; 5 artifacts recognized as National Treasures; nearly 100 craft villages with long-standing traditional occupations.

In addition, the province has the Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity "Practice of the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship"; 12 intangible cultural heritages recorded in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List; 245 traditional festivals, 4 district and commune-level cultural festivals and hundreds of village and hamlet-level festivals.

Comrade Do Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh said: In recent years, the province and relevant agencies have developed and implemented many programs and projects to manage, preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics and intangible cultural heritages that have been listed in the National and International List of Intangible Cultural Heritages.

Nam Dinh has paid attention to introducing, promoting and honoring the unique and special values ​​of the system of tangible and intangible cultural heritages in the province to domestic and foreign tourists on Vietnam Television; at the same time, it has coordinated the production of programs and reports introducing Nam Dinh broadcast on digital platforms and television channels nationwide.

Notably, the cultural sector of Nam Dinh province has effectively implemented the Program to digitize cultural heritage of Nam Dinh province for the period 2021-2030; the Program to preserve and promote the sustainable value of Vietnamese cultural heritage for the period 2021-2025 in Nam Dinh province and the Project "Application of information technology to build a database to manage, preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics in Nam Dinh province".

For example, at Nam Dinh Provincial Museum, science and technology have been applied to the management, inventory, classification, preservation, and display of documents, images, and artifacts, aiming to build an electronic museum, bringing new experiences to visitors.

In addition, the Provincial Museum has equipped a 3D artifact information lookup machine connected to the virtual space software subsystem; over 4,800 artifacts have been digitized using specialized software; 500 exhibits and 700 photos of space inside and outside the museum have been digitized using 3D technology.

The Nam Dinh Provincial Museum website (baotangtinhnamdinh.vn) also integrates a 3D virtual museum tour application, providing features that allow users to share via social networking channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Zalo, Instagram... to spread and disseminate information widely, attracting the attention of the general public, especially young people, to national history and culture.

Also according to comrade Do Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh: To preserve and promote the value of the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity "Practice of worshiping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people"; the province has developed a project "Protecting and promoting the value of practicing the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people in Nam Dinh province until 2030".

The province created conditions for the Association for the Protection and Promotion of the Value of "Practicing the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship" in Nam Dinh province to be established, with the participation of 300 members and 4 branches in Hai Hau, Giao Thuy, Xuan Truong, Nam Truc districts; regularly organizing many activities to introduce and promote the heritage, typically: organizing classes to teach singing skills, teaching traditional musical instruments; collecting and donating documents and materials about the heritage; organizing exchanges to practice rituals for members to meet, share and learn experiences; helping and supporting relics related to heritage practice; paying attention to guiding members practicing the heritage to correctly perceive the nature and value of the heritage, not showing off, not taking advantage to distort the value and meaning of the heritage.

In Nam Dinh province, the Phu Day historical-cultural relic complex and Phu Day Festival located in Vu Ban district, is one of the spaces for practicing the experience of the heritage "Practicing the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces of the Vietnamese people" for the community of Nam Dinh province; increasingly affirming its position and becoming an attractive spiritual tourism destination for domestic and international tourists.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province Ha Lan Anh: In order to preserve and promote the value of the Phu Day historical-cultural relic complex and Phu Day Festival, the province directs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of relics and festivals in the direction of assigning the community as the cultural subject to directly participate in relic management and practice rituals for intangible cultural heritage, avoiding deviations and distortions; ensuring good security, order and social safety, creating favorable conditions for people and tourists to visit, travel, participate in spiritual and cultural activities, cultural exchanges, and connect the community.

Up to now, Phu Day Festival still maintains its scale, worthy of being one of the typical festivals of Nam Dinh province as well as of national level.

It is known that in the coming time, Nam Dinh province will continue to do well in protecting, promoting and enriching the value of cultural heritage, not only to preserve the quintessence passed down from our ancestors, but also to contribute to arousing the tradition of patriotism, national pride, belief and aspiration for the development of a prosperous and happy country; contributing to the comprehensive development of human beings and the building of an advanced Vietnamese culture with a strong national identity; so that culture truly becomes an endogenous strength, a driving force for the development of the homeland, the country and the protection of the Fatherland.
