Vietnam won 2 gold medals at the 2025 Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championship

At the end of the 2025 Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championship, Vietnamese boxers brought home 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 11 bronze medals.

The 2025 Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championship taking place in Colombo (Sri Lanka) brings together 23 countries and about 300 athletes. The Vietnamese delegation participating in the tournament has 24 members including 1 head of delegation, 4 coaches, and 19 athletes. The tournament is considered an important opportunity for young boxers to gain experience and aim for larger international playgrounds.

Two faces won gold medals of Vietnamese Boxing

Among the athletes selected to participate in the tournament, there are many athletes who have and are achieving professional maturity such as Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran, Nguyen Huyen Tran, Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi... Last year, Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi reached the finals of the 48kg category and won a silver medal at the 2024 Asian Championship. In addition to her, boxer Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran also won a silver medal in the 50kg category at the 2024 Asian Championship.

According to the report from the team's coaching board, at the end of the tournament, Vietnamese athletes won 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 11 bronze medals. Of these, 2 gold medals were in the 50kg category by athlete Ngoc Tran and 52kg category by athlete Kim Ngan.

Evaluating the athletes, the representative of the coaching board said: "The athletes competed enthusiastically, with high determination, especially the 2 female athletes in the 50kg and 52kg categories who competed excellently, bringing home gold medals for the delegation. However, besides that, the athletes also faced certain limitations in terms of physique and physical strength, especially in the male athletes, which were still limited compared to international athletes."

The whole team will return home tomorrow evening, May 24.
