Many outbreaks of swine fever appear, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests to tighten prevention
According to the Hai Phong Agriculture, Environment, Livestock and Veterinary Newspaper, in the first 5 months of 2025, livestock and poultry in the city developed basically stably, with no outbreaks of dangerous infectious diseases detected.
Regarding African swine fever (ASF), from September 2024 to now, the epidemic has been controlled, with no new outbreaks. However, with the total pig herd in the city estimated at more than 150,000, a slight increase over the same period, the Department still identifies ASF prevention as a key task, and cannot be subjective.
“We always recommend that people practice good animal husbandry and good isolation. People who do not have a duty are absolutely not allowed to enter the animal husbandry area. Tools used for animal husbandry activities must be used separately for each area, not brought out, and no foreign tools must be brought in. If they must be brought in, they must be thoroughly disinfected and sterilized,” said Mr. Bui Van Luyen.
To effectively prevent epidemics, biosecurity measures are considered the first and most important shield. The Hai Phong Department of Fisheries, Livestock and Veterinary Medicine requires livestock facilities, especially farms, to strictly implement regulations on disease prevention and control.
