After increasing by 1,000 VND/kg and 2,000 VND/kg, traders in Vinh Phuc and Thai Nguyen provinces traded at 62,000 VND/kg. The remaining localities did not record any new fluctuations.

Today's live pig price in the North is between 59,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

* The live pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased from 1,000 VND/kg to 2,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, Quang Tri province raised the price to 57,000 VND/kg.

After increasing by 2,000 VND/kg, live pigs in Dak Lak province were purchased at 58,000 VND/kg. 60,000 VND/kg was the transaction price recorded in Lam Dong province after increasing by 2,000 VND/kg.

* Pig price in the South increased by the highest 3,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, Soc Trang province increased the price to 58,000 VND/kg. Localities including Binh Phuoc, Kien Giang and Hau Giang also increased the price to 59,000 VND/kg.

60,000 VND/kg is the transaction price recorded in localities including Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Vung Tau, an increase of 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today is around 57,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

* The price of live pigs of CP Vietnam Livestock Company in the North has increased to 62,000 VND/kg, which shows that pig production in this region is decreasing.

Some livestock companies believe that although there has not been a sudden change in purchasing power in the market, due to the decrease in pig production, this price increase may last longer and reach the mark of 65,000 VND/kg.

According to the agricultural sector's report, from the beginning of the year until now, the total output of fresh meat for slaughter in Bac Ninh province is estimated at 40,575 tons, down 6.4% over the same period in 2022. The total pig herd is 280,500, down 4.4%, the total poultry herd is 5.5 million, down 6.7%, the total cow herd is 22,300, down 11.5%, the buffalo herd is 3,400, up 11.5% over the same period in 2022.

The farming method has shifted from small-scale to large-scale, industrial, commodity-oriented concentrated farms. The province currently has 531 farms, including 44 large-scale farms, 98 medium-scale farms, and 389 small-scale farms. The aquaculture area is estimated at 4,787.8 hectares, with total aquatic product output estimated at approximately 20,000 tons.

In addition to the achieved results, livestock farmers are facing many difficulties and challenges due to market fluctuations, high input material prices, unstable livestock product prices; sharp decrease in demand for domestically produced food in industrial zones; some collective kitchens have stopped operating... therefore, livestock farmers are not bold enough to re-herd or expand production scale.
