According to information from many gardeners and purchasing agents, on the afternoon of July 22, the domestic pepper market unexpectedly decreased by 1,000 - 1,200 VND/kg compared to the previous day. Currently, the pepper purchasing price is commonly recorded at 136,000 - 139,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper prices in Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City are hovering around 137,000 - 139,000 VND/kg depending on the region.
Meanwhile, Dak Lak and Lam Dong stood at 137,000 - 138,500 VND/kg respectively. In Gia Lai province, the price was at 136,000 VND/kg.
Thus, despite the alternating increases and decreases, pepper prices have remained relatively stable over the past several months, mainly fluctuating between 130,000 - 150,000 VND/kg. This price is much lower than the peak of 205,000 VND/kg last year, but is much higher than the years when prices fell, when there was a time when it was only 35,000 VND/kg.
However, according to records, due to the relatively limited pepper source among the people, trading activities between people and agents are relatively quiet.
Meanwhile, in the world market, pepper prices are currently decreasing in some regions. The International Pepper Community (IPC) listed Lampung black pepper price (Indonesia) at 7,134 USD/ton, down 1.15%; Brazilian black pepper price ASTA 570 at 5,800 USD/ton; Kuching black pepper price (Malaysia) ASTA at 8,900 USD/ton.
Muntok white pepper price is 9,972 USD/ton, down 0.86%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 11,750 USD/ton.
Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,440 USD/ton for 500g/l; 550g/l at 6,570 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,150 USD/ton.
Assessing the world pepper market in the past few days, many experts said that there was a mixed trend of increase and decrease, some countries decreased and some countries increased. However, the difference in increase and decrease was not much, basically the price in the past week did not have too many big fluctuations.
Business people say the market is currently under pressure from weak purchasing power, plus remaining stockpiles, leading to pepper prices not increasing as strongly as some businesses expected in recent months.
Currently, export enterprises are waiting for positive signals from the Chinese and European markets to develop appropriate import-export strategies for the third quarter of 2025.
