In An Giang and Dong Thap, prices of popular rice varieties such as OM 18, OM 5451 and Dai Thom 8 ranged from VND5,800 to VND6,200 per kilogram, reflecting better quality than at the beginning of the season. Prices of IR 50404 and Nang Hoa 9 rice increased slightly. However, purchasing power from traders remained sluggish. Many areas such as Can Tho, Tien Giang and Tay Ninh recorded abundant supply, but transactions were not active because farmers were still holding prices.

Regarding rice, the market recorded stable prices. Raw rice OM 18, IR 504, CL 555 and OM 5451 remained at 7,400 - 9,700 VND/kg depending on the type. At retail markets, the prices of popular fragrant and white rice varieties such as Jasmine, Huong Lai, Nang Nhen also remained unchanged, ranging from 13,000 to 28,000 VND/kg.

In the world market, Vietnamese rice prices remain stable, while Thai and Indian prices both slightly decrease. According to the Vietnam Food Association, Vietnamese 5% broken rice is currently at 382 USD/ton, about 4-5 USD/ton higher than Thai and Indian rice. Pakistan is the only country that recorded an increase, to 389 USD/ton.

Vietnam's rice exports are maintaining positive growth despite pressure from falling prices. In the first 6 months of 2025, our country exported nearly 4.9 million tons of rice, earning 2.54 billion USD, up 8% in volume. It is forecasted that for the whole year, Vietnam can achieve export output of up to 7.9 million tons, surpassing Thailand to hold the second position in the world.

This growth comes from the advantages of modern rice varieties, fast processing, maintaining fresh rice quality and matching market tastes. In addition, high-end rice varieties such as ST24 and ST25 continue to be popular in China, while “green” rice from the 1 million hectare project is expanding its access to demanding markets such as the EU and Japan.
