Fresh rice prices sold at the field have decreased but farmers still make a profit

According to some farmers in Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien, Binh Giang districts (Hai Duong), the price of fresh rice sold in the field has decreased by 500 - 1,000 VND/kg.

Hai Duong farmers are focusing on harvesting winter-spring rice.

On June 14, some farmers in Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien, and Binh Giang districts said that 415 sticky rice was sold at the field price of 9,500 VND/kg, ST 25 rice was 7,500 VND/kg (both down 1,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the month); No. 7 fragrant rice was 6,500 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg.

The price of paddy decreased due to the decrease in the world market price of rice when some major rice producing countries in the world allowed rice exports again. Farmers in the province are simultaneously harvesting the winter-spring rice crop with a large output, which also caused the price to decrease.

This winter-spring crop, Hai Duong planted 53,367 hectares, exceeding the plan by 0.7%. Favorable weather resulted in rice yields of 2.5 - 3 quintals/sao, an increase of about 30kg/sao compared to the same period in 2024. With the current selling price, farmers earn nearly 1 million VND/sao.
