Vietnam pepper prices benefit greatly from soaring demand in the US and EU

According to the latest report from Ptexim, demand from the US, European Union and Middle East markets is the main driving force behind the increase in pepper prices. The fundamentals of supply and demand are forecast to continue to maintain a positive trend in the market throughout the rest of 2025.

In the first half of this year, Vietnam exported a total of 124,133 tons of pepper, and domestic inventories are expected to decrease sharply as the 2025 crop is expected to be the lowest in many years.

At the same time, with about 8 months to go until the new harvest in 2026, Vietnam is facing a big challenge as current inventories are at their lowest level in the past 5-6 years.

According to data from Comexstat, in June 2025, Brazil exported 5,758 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 66.4 million USD. Compared to the previous month, this figure decreased by 44.4% in volume and 43.2% in value, but compared to the same period in 2024, the export volume increased by 8% and the value increased sharply by 64.4%.

The UAE is currently Brazil's largest pepper import market, followed by Vietnam, India, Senegal and Morocco.

By the end of June 2025, Brazil's total pepper export volume reached 49,761 tons, with a commercial value of up to 309.7 million USD, an increase of 33.8% in volume and 118.6% in turnover over the same period last year.

The main consumer markets of Brazilian pepper include: Vietnam with 17,563 tons, a remarkable increase of 197.2%; UAE with 4,675 tons, an increase of 31.4%; India with 4,623 tons, an increase of 18.8%; Senegal with 3,696 tons and Morocco with 3,502 tons.
