World gold price today

World gold prices continued to decline today, with spot gold prices listed on the Kitco exchange at 3,368.09 USD/ounce (equivalent to about 106.7 million VND/tael converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, excluding taxes and fees) - down 0.17% compared to early this morning.

Thus, the domestic gold price is about 13 million VND/tael higher than the world gold price.

The outlook remains mixed, according to the latest Kitco News weekly gold survey. While Wall Street experts are divided on where gold is headed, retail investors remain bullish on the commodity.

Among Wall Street experts, 38% said gold prices would rise this week, 31% predicted prices would continue to fall and the remaining 31% said prices would remain flat.

For individual investors, the optimism rate is higher as 54% believe gold prices will increase, but 46% still remain cautious or lean towards a sideways or downward trend.

Gold remains in a long-term uptrend, having reasserted its role as a key currency asset in global markets, said Christopher Vecchio, Head of Futures and Forex at Tastylive.com. However, he added that current speculative positions suggest the metal is facing some short-term challenges.

“Gold has all the right conditions right now, but it hasn’t made a new high yet. That’s what’s worrying traders. There’s obviously a lot of people buying gold and a lot of people shorting the dollar. That’s creating headwinds for gold right now,” said Christopher Vecchio.

Despite his negative short-term outlook, Mr. Vecchio remains bullish on gold and sees any dip as a buying opportunity.

Fawad Razaqzada, market analyst at City Index and FOREX.com, said that although the gold market is weak, now is not the time to short the metal.

“Calling the uptrend over while Iran and Israel are at high tension would be a very bold decision. The trend is still up and key support levels are still holding. Therefore, it is too early to declare the end of the uptrend in gold,” said expert Fawad Razaqzada.
