Meanwhile, the price of SJC gold at Phu Quy was traded by businesses at 119.5-121.8 million VND/tael (buy - sell), the gold price increased by 300,000 VND/tael for buying and increased by 800,000 VND/tael for selling compared to yesterday.

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 3,428.25 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 0.94% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,390 VND/USD), the world gold price is 109 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is about 13 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Yields on 10-year U.S. government bonds fell to their lowest in nearly two weeks, making non-yielding gold more attractive, Reuters reported.
“Uncertainty over trade deals is driving safe-haven demand,” said Jim Wyckoff, senior analyst at Kitco Metals. “The U.S. is in the process of negotiating a series of trade deals, but there are doubts that they and the EU can reach a consensus.”
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he would meet with his Chinese counterpart next week, opening the door to an extension of the August 12 tariff deadline. He also said the US was preparing to announce a series of trade deals with other countries. Meanwhile, European Union (EU) diplomats have also hinted that the bloc is considering broader countermeasures against the US, as prospects for a bilateral trade deal appear increasingly dim.
Markets are now positioning themselves ahead of next week’s Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting. While the Fed is widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged, investors are betting on a rate cut in October. Gold is often seen as a store of value in times of uncertainty, and is increasingly sought after when interest rates are low.
Also on July 22, Mr. Bessent emphasized that there is no need for Fed Chairman Jerome Powell to resign immediately, a day after he called for a review of the role and structure of the central bank. Fed Vice Chair Michelle Bowman also spoke out to defend the agency's independence, amid President Donald Trump's continued pressure to lower interest rates.
In other precious metals, spot silver edged down 0.1% to $38.89 an ounce. Platinum rose 0.2% to $1,440.75 an ounce, while palladium fell 0.1% to $1,262.75 an ounce.
